Sixmilewater parkrun – Event #32 – 14th Mar ’20

A massive thanks to the 7 wonderful volunteers who turned up at Sixmilewater parkrun today to enable 77 of you to walk, jog and run.

There were no milestones today so we just used Ronnie's Henry's upcoming 81st birthday next week as a reason to celebrate! Ronnie is such an inspirational member of our running community. Happy Birthday Ronnie.

Sixmilewater parkrun – Event #31 – 7th Mar ’20

What an exciting parkrun this morning! It didn't rain - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This week 96 people ran, jogged and walked the course alongside Ronnie HENRY who completed his 50th parkrun! We had visiting parkrunners from Essex as well as some local first timers and Maria GLENN, parkrun Ambassador from Larne. A total of 18 of you came along to Sixmilewater for the first time including 5 new first time parkrun female runners all on International Women's Day - well done all of you. There were Personal Bests for 17 of you - great work everyone.Week31 Ronnie Week31 Ronnie cake

Thanks as always to an amazing team of volunteers - Stevie and Jacob took the times today and Stevie you're just the best bringing along a box of Celebrations!! Jeanette, Margaret and Claire looked after things out on the course. As you passed the finish line Mandy and her daughter Naiomi gave you a token and Nicole and Ellie scanned your barcodes. You are in for a treat when you see all the action captured by Raymond Hilman with his camera - you all look great and finally as you've figured out by now there's the Run Director (that's me!!) who did nothing apart from look after Rhona's car which was storage for Ronnie's amazing celebration cake! Thanks for the refreshments Rhona.

Finally the winner of this week's Freddo Frog Award is Raymond HILMAN - but since he had already left his Frog was put back in the pond and we had 3 female winners of the Freddo Frog Award this week !! Mandy WILSON, Naomi WILSON and NICOLE FINLAY - all jumping with joy!!

Sixmilewater parkrun – Event #30 – 29th Feb ’20

112 people made history this week running, jogging and walking the course at Sixmilewater on the first ever parkrun to be held on 29th February! 19 were first timers and 19 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.

First male finisher today was Mark McKINSTRY in  a fantastic time of 15min38sec. Well done Mark and also well done to Junior parkrunner Tom FLEMING finishing in 4th place overall in a time of 19min 47sec. First female finisher was Sarah KINNEAR in a time of 23:54. Great running everyone.

parkrun doesn't happen without volunteers and this is the wonderful volunteer team who delivered this historic parkrun for you all to enjoy and remember.

Sixmilewater parkrun – Event #29 – 22nd Feb ’20

The prospect of a sunny parkrun was enough to bring  58 people to Sixmilewater parkrun this morning. However, just on the very starting minute everything changed and you all had to dig deep in to your parkrun character to run, jog and walk the course in yet another week of wet, windy and cold conditions. So well done all of you - I think you all secretly love the bad weather anyway because you were all smiling!!

Today we welcomed 14 first timers - that's 9 parkrun tourists and 5 parkrun first timers. Well done to all of you. Congratulations to the 9 of you who recorded new Personal Bests and to all the representatives of the 7 different clubs who took part.

Raymond Hilman was the photographer today - thanks to Raymond for helping you to re-live your parkrun experience. Jacob Simpson (Duke of Ed) recorded your time today as you crossed the finish line and Ellie Dickson (Duke of Ed) scanned your barcode. I think you will agree that Jacob and Ellie are excellent examples of the young people we have in our community and their ability to embrace new tasks and work in adverse conditions are truly admirable qualities.
