A muddy run beats Christmas shopping!

We have no control over the weather which has been a cause of much anxiety during the build up to this week's parkrun. So, it was with much relief that our 4th event went ahead.

Despite the gale force wind and mud, 98 parkrunners managed to run, jog, walk and even march their way around "Curly Wurly"! PB's were achieved by 11 people, including our Event Director Ian Mussell. The first man to cross the line was Leon Baker, the first female was Rachel Bramwell and the first junior was Beau Gwilliam. All were visitors to Somerdale.
We played host to 50 visitors from as far afield as Perry Barr parkrun (The Chocolate Tourists), Killerton, Pontypridd and someone celebrating their 100th different parkrun. I am sorry that I didn't get your name but thank you for choosing Somerdale Pavilion parkrun to mark this achievement. There were also 12 first time parkrunners. Well done to you all and we hope that you become parkrun regulars.

This was my first time as Run Director. So far, it appears to have gone smoothly unless somebody knows otherwise! It is a personal 'thank you' to the Core Team who were a great help and support in this week's run up. Many thanks to the band of volunteers who turned out on a very grim morning to help. Without volunteers there is no parkrun so please consider offering your services on the odd Saturday.

We hope to see many of you next week.
