Event #204

Good afternoon Parkrunners,

Firstly a big thank you to all of our volunteers that give their time up so everyone else can enjoy their running.

A special big thank you to Finn for making this mornings address, you are becoming a natural at public speaking! Thanks for making the effort.

Also a big thank you to the whole running community that has not only got me running fairly regularly but also encouraged me to get involved at a voluntary level (not the biggest fan of admin type duties either) the whole experience is very fulfilling and I would only encourage those that are thinking about it to give it a go!

So as my first stint of run directing draws to a close, I wish you all the best for the rest of the weekend and I'll see you all again tomorrow at the Ali Brownlee Cleveland Centre 5k in which you'll find me plodding along at the back with a grimace on the outside but secretley loving it on the inside, until next time...

Todays milestones, a massive well done to you all: Helen BENNISON 50th run, Malcolm KILNER 150th run, Julie SKIPP 50th run and the marvellous Margaret MYERS 250th run!!

Take care

Julian Spoor

Event #10

Howdy parkrunners!

What a nice morning it was for our 10th parkrun (wow!), with some lovely blue skies and the rarely seen sunshine.

It was a large field that turned out to do the run this morning, and we had a fair few volunteers too - thank you you wonderful people :-). Remember, parkrunners, you should try and do a stint up to 3 times each year so that we all get a chance to have a run - everyone who has done it so far (we're up to 70 now at Stewart!) has enjoyed it and you also get maximum points for the first 3 times you do it in one running year. It also makes sure the event keeps happening, for which I'm really grateful.

The superstars who came along to help this week were: Andrew Johnson, Alison Warburton, Kerry Jarvis, Sam Smethurst - who brought along the very gorgeous one week old Baby Jacob!, Nicky Pearson (with cutie Baby Max), Linda Forth (my sis from Dublin, complete with hangover!), Fred Forth, Eddie Meehan, Ian and Katie Higgins, John Fearns, Dennis Kent and the lovely Erin Johnson Caddell doing back mark. Thank you all!

Thanks also to Mark Grace and Keith Craven for their help with the run this morning :-)

Well done to our Sweatshop prizewinner for August (drumroll please!) - and this month I have decided to award it to Elaine Stuart!! Elaine has been a long time parkrunner, starting over at Albert in 2008, and more recently doing her runs up here at Stewart. She's clocked 100% attendance, and clocked a few PBs on the go there in August and finally went sub 30 minutes as a result. She was also good enough to help with volunteering so is a very worthy winner of the fitted running shoes prize courtesy of sponsors, Sweatshop.  A big thank you to Hugh Brasher for his continued support of parkruns.
