Christmas and New Year parkruns in Stonehaven

Stonehaven parkrun will hold a Christmas Day run at 9.30am on 25th December 2019.

On New Years Day Stonehaven parkrun will be at 11.00am on 1st January 2020. This will enable the opportunity to do a double of Montrose parkrun at 9.00am, followed by Stonehaven parkrun at 11.00am.

New Years Day is the only day of the year when you are permitted to run two parkruns on the same day.

Obviously we wouldn't be able to do this without some fabulous volunteers so do let us know if you want to help out. I hope you can join us for these extra special runs.

Stonehaven parkrun #160 - 7th September 2019: Our 3rd Birthday!

This week 69 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and 5 recorded new Personal Bests. We had a Beach Party: IMG_6418

First home was Louis Kowal (JM11-14 category) in a very speedy 20.29. First lady was Louise Foubister in 25.26.

Some stats for our 3rd year... Over the past year we have held 54 events with NO cancellations - that's one a week plus extra events on Christmas day and New years day. During the year we have welcomed 1024 unique participants completing 3241 runs (an average of 60 runners per week, 3.2 runs per runner) supported by 144 unique volunteers on 625 occasions (average of 4.4 volunteer occasions per volunteer).

Fastest Female time: Clare STEWART 00:19:48
Average run time: 00:30:26

David PURVIS finished first male most often - 12 times
Gemma ROWBOTHAM finished first female most often - 4 times.

Catriona PIRIE ran the most times - 44.
Anne TORRANCE ran 43 times and also recently celebrated her 300th run.

Andy LORIMER volunteered 35 times.
Ellie HUGHES volunteered 20 times
Alan GRAY volunteered 17 times.

We also helped 6 youngsters through their Bronze DofE - Andrew Johnston, Abbie Crawford, Johnny Montgomery, James Conybeare, Lewis Waton, Faith Yuda.

We awarded the 2019 Spirit of parkrun award to John and Kathleen Wilson - A combined 47 volunteer occasions and 114 runs ... they always step in at the last minute if we need volunteers, they are always smiling and they have never run anywhere other than Stonehaven! John - 58 runs, 27 volunteer; Kathleen - 56 runs, 20 volunteer.

Stonehaven parkrun #106 – Our 2nd Birthday

Wow, we did it!!! We broke the attendance record that had stood since our first birthday. Thank you so much to everyone who came to Stonehaven parkrun to celebrate our 2nd birthday. We smashed the 100 target! This week 126 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom an amazing 42 were first timers and 27 recorded new Personal Bests. People wore cotton t shirts as it was the 2nd anniversary. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part. Special mention to Montrose parkrun, Fit Like Stonehaven and Catterline Online for promoting us this week and to all the people who spread the word amongst their friends. Here we are at the start:

The Spirit of parkrun award was given to Caroline and Ellie Hughes - they have volunteered for a combined total of 49 volunteer occasions for this mother and daughter duo, baked amazing cakes and instigated a new runners briefing. Caroline is also now an RD.

Stonehaven parkrun #91 where Splasher came to see us again and two youngsters reached their 10th milestone

It was another beautiful sunny day and we were honoured to be joined by Splasher the dolphin before he performed his duties at the Open Air pool. Splasher ran some of the route then spent some time high-fiving and cheering on the parkrun participants.

Regular parkrunner Calum reached his 10th milestone and will gain a white t shirt to add to his purple volunteer t shirt. Local girl Harriet also reached her 10th milestone.

Stonehaven parkrun # 81, 10th March

This week 38 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 7 were first timers and 6 recorded new Personal Bests.

It was Val's 50th parkrun and she celebrated by coming in first lady and bringing us some chocolates - well done Val and thank you!

The ever lovely Caroline also made us yummy cupcakes to celebrate Mothers Day weekend - well done to all the mummies who ran, walked or jogged or volunteered today. You're all awesome.

Stonehaven parkrun #80 The one where we had lots of fun in the snow

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning. This week 55 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 16 were first timers and 9 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

Today another two people reached their 50th parkrun milestone and chose to run with us: Chris Mound came all the way from Richmond in London and Iain Shanks came all the way from Queens Road ;-) Stonehaven. This week 53 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 8 were first timers and 21 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different clubs took part.

Stonehaven parkrun #75: 27/01/18 – Garry’s 50th!

Well done to Garry Brindley (aka Elvis) for a special 50th anniversary today - he has now completed 50 parkruns ALL at Stonehaven (150 times up THAT hill!). That's loyalty for you!!
