Street parkrun paints a rainbow

Over the past 6 weeks Street parkrun have been busy running, jogging or walking on Saturdays and painting the local streets with vibrant rainbow colours.

Details are posted to the Street parkrun Facebook page each week with participants adding their photos below the post. Matt Dorber collates all the photos to produce a montage of the colour for the week:

Weeks 1 to 3
Red, Orange and Yellow

Rainbow week 3

Week 4 Green

Rainbow week 4 green

Week 5 Blue

Week 6 Purple (indigo)

Rainbow week 6 purple

♧♧♧

If you've missed the fun and want to join in, next week is Pink (violet). If you don't do Facebook, photos can be added to flickr or e-mailed to street@parkrun.com

And if you've missed taking part in your favourite colour there will be a bonus multicolour week as a grand finale for running in whichever colour you like.

Let's paint the town rainbow saying a huge thank you to NHS and essential key workers who brought us through lockdown, celebrating gay pride, our rainbow coloured nation and of course looking forward to brighter days ahead :)

We will get through this together and we will be back!

Stay safe and be kind everyone

the Street parkrun team xx

Street parkrun 2nd birthday 02/05/2020

Happy 2nd Birthday to us!

Street parkrun 2nd Birthday 2 May 2020

Owing to COVID-19 it's a virtual celebration this year but let's make it a fun one in our usual Street parkrun style!

Run, jog or walk 5k as your daily exercise anytime during Saturday 2 May and upload photo evidence to the Street parkrun Facebook page or flickr group. If struggling with flickr, e-mail your pictures to street@parkrun.com and we'll do it for you.

Wear parkrun Milestone T-shirts or something fun and celebratory. Rainbow colours, a tutu, funny hat or anything bright and cheery. Virtual coffee and cakes to be shared afterwards.

Virtual prizes for best fancy dress. If you've got costumes from last year lying around it's still the nearest Saturday to Starwars Day. Some of those masks might also be useful for shopping trips!

We look forward to seeing your pictures!

Au revoir parkrun

As you can see on the banner above all parkrun events are suspended until further notice.

With the rapidly evolving situation with Coronavirus this will of course come as no surprise.

As long as you are well you can still run to the shops! And don't forget to do the same for your elderly or ill neighbour.

Stay safe and look yourselves everyone. See you around (from a safe distance) or on social media.

With our love and best wishes,

The Street parkrun team

Street parkrun Route Map

Here is a plan view of the Street parkrun route:

Street parkrun route map

2 fields x 3 laps, basically all you need to know. You'll probably meet Margaret at point 11 and Sean at 12. Look out for Bushy Hill in the second field, doesn't look much but it'll catch you every time. Photographers tend to lurk near the top so do your best to smile! On your third lap carry straight on from Crispin Sprint and head for the finish funnel in front of you.

Rice Gap used to get muddy in winter but Jon Forsyth and Tim Rice have laid so much sawdust it'll be fine for the next millennia.

See you at the start for 08:45 every Saturday!

Thanks to Pete Grainger and Charlie Bartlett for the plan

Glasto parkrun update

It's gonna be a warm one!

2019-06-28_10-30-35

With so many people at Pilton, including most of the Street parkrun core team, it might be a quiet one too.

Remaining volunteers have worked hard to bring you our Glasto tribute event so please do come along and join us!

The amazing Chop & Chill Ice Cream have kindly stepped in to provide much needed post run refreshments so, even if you can't face running in the early morning heat, come for the ice cream!

2019-06-28_10-31-26

Starting with a musical run brief in the TBC slot, followed by a free timed 5k run or walk brought to you by our team of fantastic hipster volunteers, our distant dreamy views of Glastonbury Tor throughout, barcode scanning in one of our festival tents (Rufus the gazebo is booked to volunteer at Pilton himself, he's charity minded like that), delicious artisan rolled ice cream brought to us all by Chop & Chill and, if that's not enough excitement for a Saturday morning, in a festival twist we even have post run showers!

If you're local and already regretting not securing your ticket or volunteering at the Festival this year, come along and join us instead.

If you're visiting the area, be assured the roads are quiet on Saturday morning with festival-goers safely tucked up in their tents. You could even slip out from site yourself if you simply can't bear to miss parkrun!

Festival dress encouraged:

Your fave band T-Shirt, flares, neckscarf, hippy skirt and flowery headband, sunshades and shorts!

♧♧♧♧ UPDATE ♧♧♧♧

If you do want to join us from the Festival, bus service 669 stops at Pilton post office at 8:25 arriving at Strode College, Street at 8:45. It is a 2 minute walk round the corner to the start.

We have spoken with Frome Buses who have confirmed the bus service will be running normally on Saturday.

Glasto parkrun 29/06/19

With our Event Director Tim Rice and most of the Street parkrun core team away working at Pilton it looked like the last weekend in June might be cancelled. Not so! cried the stalwarts, we can do better than that!

So for one week only, Street parkrun bring you our very own take on Glastonbury Festival:

Glasto parkrun #63

Starting with a musical run brief in the TBC slot, followed by a free timed 5k run or walk brought to you by our team of fantastic hipster volunteers, our distant dreamy views of Glastonbury Tor throughout, barcode scanning in one of our festival tents (Rufus the gazebo is booked to volunteer at Pilton himself, he's charity minded like that), delicious artisan rolled ice cream brought to us all by Chop & Chill and, if that's not enough excitement for a Saturday morning, in a festival twist we even have post run hot showers!

Street parkrun posters

Following our recent core team meeting and a suggestion by Anita Forsyth (aka Anita on tokens 'I'm giving you 007 Mr Bond') we now have A4 posters and A5 flyers available to promote Street parkrun.

2018-09-06_10-11-18

These will be available at the scanning table for future runs if anyone would like any for notice boards at school, work, village hall, pub or flyposting to lampposts. One of those was a joke by the way.
