Temple Newsam junior parkrun #256 15.03.20

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #256.

It was a chilly but dry morning as we welcomed 23 of you to Temple Newsam for a run round the park, 13 boys and just 8 girls. In a break with tradition, there were no first timers joining us today, something which hasn’t happened for about 3 months!

There were 6 amazing PBs this morning, a huge round of applause for Connor Laurie, Katie Vernon, Robyn Howard, George Bradley, Finley Fox and Bella Oldfield.

Congratulations to Alex Edmondson who joined the Marathon Club (21 junior parkruns) this morning. Well done to you! Don't forget that club wristbands are given out at parkrun while certificates can be found in your individual profile.

It’s 15^th March today, so we’ll ‘shine the spotlight’ on our 15^th place finisher this morning: Bella Oldfield. Today was Bella’s second junior parkrun. She runs in the JW10 category and today she was the 4^th girl to cross the line in a time of 16:53, a new PB which took 35 seconds off her previous time! Fantastic running Bella, we hope to see you again soon here at Temple Newsam!

Temple Newsam junior parkrun #255 08.03.20

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #255.

The rain dried up and the sun came out as 27 of you joined us at Temple Newsam this morning for a lovely run in the park. There were 15 boys and 10 girls, along with lots of mums and dads running too. We’ve had another fantastic response to our appeal for volunteers so again we were able to run our preferred original route. Thanks to all of you who are helping to keep our event running so well.

We were delighted to welcome 2 first timers this morning: Isla Morley and Thomas Asprey, who were both running their first ever junior parkrun. We hope you enjoyed your run this morning and we look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Newsam again soon.

There were 5 fantastic PBs this morning, huge cheers for Lily Norvell, Theo Greenwood, Natalie Johnson, Daniel Bowers and Finnegan Gallagher-Thompson.

Congratulations to William Armstrong who joined the Half Marathon Club (11 junior parkruns) this morning. Well done to you! Don't forget that club wristbands are given out at parkrun while certificates can be found in your individual profile.

It’s 8^th March today, so we’ll ‘shine the spotlight’ on our 8^th place finisher this morning: Lewis Clay. Lewis has run an amazing 134 junior parkruns, all but 2 of them here at Temple Newsam where his PB is 9:56, along with six 5k runs at Rothwell parkrun, where his PB is 30:47. Lewis runs in the JM10 category and today he was the 6^th boy to cross the line in a time of 11:23. Fantastic running Lewis, we hope to see you again soon here at Temple Newsam!

Temple Newsam junior parkrun #254 01.03.20

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #254.

It’s the first day of spring today and for a change we had no rain, but it was windy and cold, and we even saw a few glimpses of the sun! It was lovely to see all the daffodils and crocuses bursting into flower as we arrived, and it was fantastic to see 52 of you join us at Temple Newsam this morning.

We were delighted to welcome 6 first timers this morning: Lauren Donnell, John Clark and Lola Marquis-Linley, who were all running their first ever junior parkrun; and Thomas Hetherington, Bella McAllister and Skyla Sutcliffe, who were all running at Temple Newsam for the first time. We hope you all enjoyed your run this morning and we look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Newsam again soon.

There were 13 amazing PBs this morning, high fives all round for Daniel Thomas Pearson, Josephine Robins, Nicholas Robins, Evan Cullen, George Bradley, Lucy Winter, Max Jamieson, Theo Greenwood, Eve Cayley, Elsie Oldfielf, Rupert Batty-McGregor, Austin Brown and Oliver Jackson.

It’s 1^st March today, so we’ll ‘shine the spotlight’ on our 1^st place finisher this morning: Reuben Owen. Reuben has run an astonishing 140 junior parkruns, 130 of them here at Temple Newsam, along with 142 senior 5k parkruns, 126 of them here at Temple Newsam. Reuben runs in the JM11-14 category, his junior parkrun PB at Temple Newsam is 7:46 and his senior parkrun PB at Temple Newsam is 21:31. Over the last year, Reuben has been our first finisher almost every time he has run with us at Temple Newsam juniors, in fact he has finished in first place 50 times now, putting him second on our ‘First Finishers’ leaderboard, just behind Sophie Turner who has finished first on 58 occasions. He has also volunteered 7 times. Amazing running Reuben, just a few more weeks until we’ll see you celebrating your 150^th run here at Temple Newsam!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #253.

After Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis forced us to cancel our last two events, it was fantastic to see 32 of you back at Temple Newsam this morning. And after all the strong winds and heavy rain of the last couple of weeks, we were really lucky to have a perfect morning for running: no wind, not too cold and it only just started to rain a bit as we were finishing and packing away.

We were delighted to welcome 4 first timers this morning: Gwyneth Thornton and Georgia Richardson, who were both running their first ever junior parkrun; and Oliver Jackson and Imogen Boyd, who were both running at Temple Newsam for the first time. We hope you all enjoyed your run this morning and we look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Newsam again soon.

There were 11 brilliant PBs this morning, a massive round of applause for Joseph Copley, William Copley, Katie Vernon, Noah Wray, Frey Cherrett, Evan Cullen, Daniel Bowers, Ella Reed, Ava Armstrong, Austin Brown and Charlotte Davies.

The drizzle and puddles must have put some of you off coming today, as we had fewer runners than the last few weeks, but we were so pleased to welcome 33 of you this morning.

We were delighted to welcome 7 first timers this morning: Michelle Kurtaj, Jasmina Kurtaj, Clarissa Kurtaj, Ella Gardiner, Daisy Dixon and Erin Jarratt, who were all running their first ever junior parkrun; and Luke Dykes, who was running at Temple Newsam for the first time. There were 6 brilliant PBs this morning, a huge cheer for Lily Norvell, Frankie Andrews, Noah Burton, Frey Cherrett, Daniel Bowers and Freddie Wright.

It’s 2^nd February today, so we’ll ‘shine the spotlight’ on our 2^nd place finisher this morning: Anna Proctor. Anna has run an incredible 80 junior parkruns, all of them here at Temple Newsam. She is a member of the Ultra Marathon Club and her PB is 09:09. Anna runs in the JW11-14 category and today she was the 1^st girl to cross the line in a time of 09:15. In her last 10 runs, Anna has consistently finished inside the top 10, and she has been the first girl on all but one of those runs. Amazing running Anna, we hope to see you again soon here at Temple Newsam!
