After twenty-four hours of torrential rain, which made Huddersfield parkrun in Greenhead Park resemble a steeplechase yesterday morning, the weather forecast promised sunshine, and sunshine there was!
Being the first weekend of half-term, numbers were inevitably a little down but, nevertheless, twenty juniors turned-up to run. These included three first-timers: Esme Austin, Lilly Stubbs and Willow Stubbs; as well as Emily Winter, who was running her first Tolson junior parkrun as a visitor from Shelley junior parkrun. Before we started, Otis Huscroft was pleased to receive his marathon wristband for completing twenty-one junior parkruns. Well done Otis!
First finisher was Mackenzie Colvin-Baxter and the first girl home, in third place, was Maya Winter.
There were three new PB's set today, by Eleanor Haigh, Alice Hall and Toby Wilson. The extra hour in bed last night obviously did them the world of good!
Jack Wilson and Kara Routleech both ran their twenty-first junior parkruns today, so there will be a marathon wristband waiting for them next time.
Well done to everyone who ran today and a huge thank you to all our volunteers; we just had enough in the end and, of course, parkrun wouldn't happen without you. Thank you also to the Friends of Tolson and Ravensknowle for providing post-run refreshments. The sun might have come out this morning, but it was surprisingly chilly and that cup of tea in the Bowling Hut tasted very good this morning!
See you all next week - don't forget your barcode!
