Run Report for Event #297 Saturday 20th July 2019

After recent gorgeous weather, heavy overnight rain and a drizzly morning greeted
the 520 runners and 34 volunteers. The numbers were swelled by 25 debutants to
parkrun, as well as numerous visitors – at Run Director’s Neil Brooks-Johnson’s
entertaining run briefing, visitors were heard to have come from far afield….more
about that later!

The full team of volunteers marshalled and organised the event with the great
expertise – the following individuals are to be thanked for supporting the event.

Laura GROVE • Anthony LESTER • Caroline BROOKS-JOHNSON • Charlotte
DAVIS • Mathys POTEL • Justine NORRIS • Peter HORNE • John SANDERS •
Liz HOLLANDS • Emily MOORE • Lynne MOORE • Neil BROOKS-JOHNSON •
Nicki CURRY • Catherine MOORE • Vivienne BRIGGS • Jamie ROGERS • Quinn
MOORE ROGERS • Kirsten SMITH • Alice KINGSWOOD • Heath GREENSLADE
• Sophie MITCHELL • Jean BOULLE • Phil RAYNER • Maria BYRNE • David
SUDDES • Louise POWELL • Rebecca SWINDIN • Andre BETHA • Tatiana
BETHA • Cadan LAUNDER • Oliver BLEET • Henry SWAITE • Adrian BOWERS •
Jade MOORE

There are still spaces on the volunteer roster over the next few weeks, so why not try
viewing parkrun from a different angle? Plenty of volunteering roles are available to
be performed – please email tonbridgehelpers@parkrun.com if you are interested.

Those collecting low number tokens

Collecting token number 1 was James Price in a time of 17:16 on his 20th visit to
the Tonbridge. Alex Beeston was the second person to be issued with a token three
seconds later and Matthew Dubery was the third runner to complete the course, in
18:05. First lady home was Ali Farrall in a time of 20:38, with Sarah Cronin
following her home 8 seconds later. Lisa Reid reached the funnel in a personal best
time of 21:25 for third place.

What the numbers tell us!

Although the running conditions have been better, a wapping 63 people achieved
Personal Bests! This is almost 15% of the runners who had previously recorded
times, a great achievement, especially as many other got close to their best times!
This brings the total number of personal bests over the 297 runs to 19,926 – will the
20,000 be broken next week?

It appears 30 people didn’t have times registered – the abbreviation of DFYB is
parkrun terminology participants are regularly reminded of……Don’t Forget Your
Barcode is great advice when getting to the start line on a Saturday morning!

Visitors to Tonbridge

25 of the first timers were visiting Tonbridge for the first time having run somewhere
else before! Iain MacNaughton was running his 100 th different course out of his total

of 103 runs, and Martin Fisher was visiting from Victoria parkrun in Canada! Other
visitors came from places closer to home, including St Albans and Crowborough!
