TVJP #26 My Junior Report & Record Attendance

This is a run report written by my 8 year old daughter, Charlotte.

Charlotte has regularly attended TVJP from the day we ran the test run, so she is used to the procedures and shinanigags of the Event Director that make Sunday morning junior parkrun operate smoothly.

I haven't changed any words, as this is Charlottes report, I just added the statistics at the end.

My Report - Junior Parkrun

I enjoyed running with my cousin, we came 54th and 55th.

I waited for him to tie his laces.

We jogged, walked around it.

I really did enjoy this one and want to do it again next week.

The statistics for this week are...

Record breaking attendance - 82 juniors

Fastest time: 7:40

Tailwalker: 22:49

First timers: 17

PBs: 15

Thanks for reading, let's do it all again next week.

Easter sunday Torbay Velopark junior parkrun – Event # 24

It was glorious on our Velopark, the temperature must have been in the high teens at 8.30am on Easter sunday morning.

We gathered at the gates as we had to share the venue with a Triathlon which was setting up to start around 10.30am. As the RD I gathered all juniors, and their families and walked through as a large groung to the track which was empty and free to use.

Once on the track I introduced my first junior Run Director -  Charlotte. She was wearing her Easter ears, and a very oversized Run Directors Hiviz!

Today's volunteers was made up of 5 junior volunteers, which is fabulous news!

Charlotte took to the stand at 8 years old talking to around 100+ strangers... explaining the route along with a mini safety briefing.

Charlotte and her friend Evie, (another junior volunteer) then performed a short warmup, lined all juniors up on the start line, checked the time keepers and set off Junior Parkrun. We were away in the warm sunshine.

The 57 juniors took off like rockets, with the first finisher in 7:17 seconds, just shy of the course record, and the Junior tail walker was recorded as 20:12. These juniors don't hang around on our tarmac course!

The main statistics of the day is:

57 juniors (1 short from last week)

15 First Timers

18 PBs

Tourists visited us from as far away from, Wales, Dorchester, Blackheath & Bromley, Worthing, Wolverhampton & Bilston.

If you want to join us here on a traffic free, spectator friendly, tarmaced Velopark, please pop along to volunteer, or let your juniors participate.

We love junior Parkrun.

Event 22 – First Marathon award and how Junior parkrun makes me feel?

It was the first Sunday of the long Easter school holidays at Torbay Velopark junior parkrun.

The sun was burning off the seamist and finally made an appearance, and so did the gentle easterly wind to keep the spectators and volunteers wrapped upike Eskimos!

The stats for this event are very interesting, so please have a read:

56 juniors
14 FT
15 PB
Position 1st to 7th were all junior boys today
Junior Parkrun tourism from Rushcliffe AC Nottingham.
Our first award for a Marathon, and 3 more half marathon awards.

I asked my eight year old "how does Torbay Velopark junior parkrun make you feel when warming up, or Parkrunning?

This was her reaction :

" I see Kids being happy"
"They make laugh when I make them floss at the end of my warm up routine"

This just sums up exectly how, as the Event Director this junior parkrun makes the Run Directors and myself feel each week. Thank you.

If you have feedback, want to volunteer or just visit us with your junior parkrunner come to the Velopark for 8:30am onwards for 8:45am warmup.

Mothers day at Torbay Velopark junior parkrun

Mothers day at Torbay Velopark junior parkrun was a wonderful warm, with a slight breeze, sunny morning with 46 juniors participating and plenty of spectators as it was Mother's day.

The sun held for:  10 first timers and 13 new PBs.

We have just a few junior volunteers, but it would be great have more volunteers so everyone gets a chance to try a new skill so change your preferences on your Parkrun profiles to receive our weekly email appeals or message by Facebook.

I know this was short, but sometimes being to the point is the best way to be.

I hope to see you all at the next Torbay Velopark junior parkrun with Rob back on as Run Director.

It’s a record breaker!!!

Can we keep this number of Junior parkrunners up... Yes we can! ... I'm so excited.... We broke our own record by one more junior on Sunday, from 72 to 73 juniors completing Torbay Velopark junior parkrun.
Thank you everyone for making this happen.
My order for sunshine worked, even though it was a bit windy, well that was an understatement, more like very strong head winds on every straight going, making your cheeks burn.
After the weather report let's look at our stats for Event 18....
73 juniors
Fastest 7:54 minutes
All safely finished in 22:40 minutes
11 first timers
11 new PBs
2 half marathon awards - 1 award was to a fantastic 4 year old little girl (our youngest award winner yet)
And that's a wrap for another week.
See you next Sunday with your barcodes please.
