The 17th Anniversary event
The 2nd October 2004 was the first ever parkrun event in Bushy Park, so today was the exact 17 year anniversary of parkrun. Town Moor has been going for 11 of those years since we started on January 16th 2010.
This week we had 496 people take part in the event and a full fifth of these were first timers (102). Amazingly, 36 of these people did their FIRST EVER parkrun on the Town Moor today. A strong welcome and well done to them. 62 people recorded Personal Bests today.
Willard Wright did his 200th parkrun with us today and Emily Underwood-Lea completed her 50th parkrun today and so joins the 50 Club. Very well done to everyone.
Nazaar Ali not only did his first parkrun today, but he also achieved the highest age grade of 66.49%.
Not many event have a Lead Bike and at Town Moor we have a strong tradition of the parkrun Duathlon where someone can volunteer as Lead Bike and then run as fast as they can to catch up the Tail Walker. Today, one of our Run Directors, Larry, completed both roles in just 38:43.
One of our tourists today from Liverpool, the 'Scouse Runner', is most of the way through his amazing challenge to run 5km every day for 365 days. He's running for Cancer Research and you can follow him here: https://gofund.me/8c84d45c
