Tring parkun #99 – The week the weather turned

Clearly the British weather didn’t get the message that Saturday mornings are to be dry and sunny for an hour! So with a sprinkling of rain for the pre event set up we got the 99th edition on its way with 114 runners who recorded 19 New PBs and we welcomed 12 “First Timers” to the course.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, especially Paul Hembury who can truly talk to the animals and even have a cuddle with the cows and Christian for the fantastic photographs.

Cow marshals Paul & Tamsin made friends with the cows

We celebrated a milestone this week, with Richard Murphy one of our new RD’s reaching his 25th volunteering.

Thanks to Andy & Jo for being our tailrunners

Don’t forget the other major news, next week is our centenary of Tring Park parkrun and we shall all be running the course in reverse! That’s in the opposite direction not actually running backwards! Please try to come along and invite all your parkrun friends and family for what could be a unique experience. We are also running with a red white and blue theme - so feel free to wear your union jack running shirt with your red shorts and blue and white striped socks - it would be great to see lots of red white and blue.

Plus, our very own RD Andy Collings will be running 100k around Tring Park starting at 7pm on Friday and completing the last lap as part of the parkrun on Saturday morning. The 20 laps are not only to celebrate our 100th parkrun but more importantly to help raise some funds towards a defibrillator we can use in the park.
Andy would welcome any support from running a few laps to providing some food and drink throughout the night. I know of one special request - a Pizza from that famous place on Akeman Street (Mighty Bite) at 10pm!

Well, that's it for another week.
I look forward to seeing you all again this coming Saturday morning
Fingers crossed for sun!

Katie
