Upton Court parkrun
Event number 340
13th July 2019
This week 207 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 43 were first timers and 38 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 28 different clubs took part.
What those around the finish funnel noticed as the runners started arriving was how young many of the fastest were. 3 out of the first 4 places (5 out of the first 7) were teenagers. Christopher BOYLE finished between the BRECH boys, only 2 seconds off his 20 minute PB. And Casper KAMAU finished in 6th place, knocking 1:52 off his previous PB!
The event was made possible by 18 volunteers:
Bob HARDMAN • Michael Terence BALLARD • Ben BLAZQUEZ • Matt SMITH • Himmat TOOR • David ROSS • Harbhajan DHILLON • Kim REES • Jim HAYES • Caren HUNT • Emily EUDEN • Lisa EUDEN • Avtar Singh BHOGAL • Nidhi VAIDYANATH • Zichen MA • Gurdip HANSRA • Prabh MANNI • Ellen BUENO
Remember that we are always looking for volunteers to help out each week. Next Saturday, local runners from GoodGym will be volunteering. I've done a few of the GoodGym group runs, and it is a fun and worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours on Monday evenings, getting fit whilst doing good deeds. After my news post last week about bringing along a water bottle and water to parkrun, Joanne informed me that she had only had a couple of requests for water, and that she had run out of bacon for the rolls. It seems that a lot of you had read the post and heeded the advice. Thank you for listening.
Looking through the 207 results for an APTOTW, I came across Jas KANG's descending time of 32:10. Good one Jas!
If anyone took away finish token 18 this week, could they please let us know, and arrange to return it. We still cannot work out why tokens go missing. We mention about it in the first-timers briefing, in the pre-run briefing and have signs at the finish funnel telling you to go and get your barcodes scanned in the clubhouse. If you spot anyone who looks a bit lost at the finish funnel wondering what to do next, just politely prompt them to go into the clubhouse, even if they haven't got their runner barcode.
See you next time.
