The joys of Upton Court

It’s great to get a run report written by a visitor who brings a fresh view of what us regulars either miss or simply take for granted. So thank you to Sharon for last week’s report which reminded us that Upton Court Park isn’t  just a couple of grassy fields and tarmac paths: Sharon pointed out the wild flower meadow and views of Windsor Castle.  To her list I would add all the beautiful trees. So maybe we should start by saying thank you to our hosts, Slough Borough Council, for such a pleasant park.

We had another 200-plus runners, joggers and walkers this week of whom 31 ran personal bests. Too many I’m afraid to list but very well done to you all.

We had a whole clutch of people trying parkrun for the very first time - so welcome to William Casbolt, Aneeka Shah, Harry Macklin, Humza Hussain, Luke Williams, James Hourston, Balraj Brar, Chloe and Shannah Gates  and Tina Steinbrecher. Hopefully you had a good time and will be back soon.

APTOTW (Aesthetically Pleasing Time Of The Week) was a hard fought competition this week with Simon Long 17:17, Jas Kant 21:21, Ewan Montgomery 30:30 and Satnam Singh 46:46 all managing repeating numbers but this week the award is shared by Adam Malik and Humza Hussain  with their respective palindromic times of 32:23 and 25:52.

As usual a big thank you to all our volunteers who kept time, scanned barcodes, marshalled, briefed new-comers, tail-walked and set up and set down the course so perfectly. It made my morning as Run Director smooth and uneventful, which is just as I like it.  So thanks to Philip Kemp, Ja and Gurdip Hansra, Sarah Gardner, Himmat Toor, Harbhajan Dhillon, Ann Chandler, Stuart Montgomery, Claire Blazquez, James Middleton, Prabh Manni & Erin Oliver.

Keep running and see you soon.

Jim
