Pinch! Punch! First of the month.

A wonderfully sunny, still morning, greeted the Upton Court parkrun today, and although the going in horseracing terms was soft to heavy for most of the course, it did not stop the 198 runners, joggers, plodders, walkers, buggy pushers, and four legged friends enjoying their morning workout; of which 15 participants achieved PB’s in the testing conditions.

And how well the UCp course has held up throughout this very wet winter. Where other parkruns locally have had to close their doors - or start using an alternative course – UCp has managed to offer the same route with few problems due to frost or water cover.

UCp also welcomed 28 First-Timers to join the regulars. One such person was . . .

. . . Rebecca Mullen; It was also her very first parkrun anywhere. Other participants to took their first parkrun venture were:   Martin Winch, Albert Meena, Brendon Lally, Noeleen Bryne, Sarah West, Reahana Howa, and Aziz Howa. See you all next week, rain or shine . . . okay!

Plus, we had some Alphabet runners (A-Z parkruns) attaining the elusive U . . .

. . . Picture above is Melanie and Peter; whose local parkrun is Brierly Forest near Nottingham.

The first male runner home was first-timer Edward Reesin 18: 20.

First female runner was Claire Puseyin 20:52 (9th overall) and completing her 99th parkrun. (looking forward to the cake next week?)

Official milestones this week were:50 Avneet Kaur  (JW10)

100Manjit Sohal

There were also some notable unofficial additions: Gurmail Mahal: 150, and Neil Bausor: 350.

(Looking at the results tells me that there is going to be numerous milestones in the next few weeks.)

I would also like to pay tribute to one of my fellow 70-74 age group runners.  Brendon LALLY ran a PB today and also broke through the 30-minute barrier on only his 8th parkrun in a time of 29:56. All his runs have been at Upton Court, and the previous three attempts were tantalisingly close. Today he did it!

Also, a big, big  thank you to all the volunteers today:Adrian CLEMENT •  Caren HUNT • Christopher HUNT  • Claire BOYLES • Harry JACKSON-LOWE  • Ja HANSRA • James FLISHER • James GREAVES  • Jim HAYES • Lisa DOIDGE • Lisa EUDEN • Louise FLISHER  • Pam BANGA • Rishita RALLABANDI • Whitfield BRYAN • Zichen MA.
