Victoria parkrun, Glasgow is cancelled on 4 April 2020: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

New Year cancellation

To explain the reasoning behind the cancellation of our New Years Day event. It has come to our attention that parkrun does not allow both a junior (2k) event and the 5k to take place on the same day. This policy is designed to protect children from taking part in both events.
We understand the frustration of runners looking forward to the event and thoughts that have been expressed but this is unavoidable.
As this falls on a Sunday, the junior event has the right to take place and the 5k needs to step aside.
Other runs are available on the day. Please check for start times as the other events as they will differ.

Saturday 26th November

Good morning all
We will go down early and check the course but are expecting frost. We will post an update on Facebook at about 8 30 - you don't have to be registered with Facebook to see the message here https://www.facebook.com/victoriaparkrunglasgow
Fingers crossed to see you tomorrow - wrap up!

Planned New Years Day Event

We have decided to try a New Years Day event this, or as it will be next year!

Our colleagues at Victoria Juniors have decided to have their event as normal with it being Sunday at 0930. We will have our event at 1030 after our younger runners have finished. It would be great to make it a family occasion.

Our event, as always will rely on volunteers and it will be a challenge to get volunteers two days in a row. This is where YOU come in! We want as many people as possible signing up for our festive events - Christmas Eve, Hogmanay (both Saturdays at 0930) and New Years Day.

if you can assist, we are happy to take names even at this stage. The festive season is busy for all and I would appreciate you considering one of these days as a volunteer day!

Saturday 3/9/16 Run 143

A lovely day with the gentlest of rain half way through. And at the end. Never mind.

Special welcome to our colleagues from Strathclyde parkrun, and a big well done to

BRONA STEEL on her 100th run (I forgot to mention this at the start - sorry - and I believe Brona's sister was doing her 100 at another parkrun at the same time) - congratulations Brona.

Congrats also to Graeme McMeekin who got his 100 a couple of weeks ago.

We aren't pre-notified about who is doing landmark runs, but let us know (or tell us, if it's your pal's landmark run and they are too embarrassed to)  for a pre-run shout out!

Well done to the 47 of the 301 runners who got PBs today. Otherwise, there is always next week. And there is also your age-graded score to improve on .. .. see you next parkrunday

Victoria parkrun 2/7/16

Big thanks to the 21 volunteers who made the run happen today as well as the and extra helpers who came across to the library to have a coffee and token-sort.
Congratulations to Pamela McCabe for her 100 last week and
big enormous congratulations to regular park runners and stalwart volunteers Gavin Harvie and Kirsty Grant who are getting married today ! - send us some pictures so we can check you are not wearing trainers.
I am meeting with the Friends of Victoria park this week and will hopefully agree a time to tidy up the overgrowth round Fossil Grove. Would some folk be willing to help, and if so, would people prefer before or after the run, or a different day altogether?
We had a complaint today. We welcome all runners/walkers/joggers/combinations of these, and people are welcome to run with dogs, children, and buggies, but we have to make sure we are safe. We need everyone to take care if they have a dog/child/buggy, only passing if safe, and trying not to be a trip hazard for anyone else. Earphones are not banned https://support.parkrun.com/…/ar…/200566383-Can-I-take-part- . But if you are wearing them, please make sure you stay left on the paths, and have them turned down low enough to hear if anyone is lapping you or trying to get past. Parkrun should be welcoming to everyone and co-operation between all makes for a great start to the weekend - it's a run, not a race, and it should be possible to do the 5K in a variety of ways and still have a good time.
if you fancy joining the future volunteer rota it's here

and Chris, photographer today will hopefully have some pics up later

any issues with results, email in - and thanks again to the stellar volunteers
