WOW, well no one was expecting that on a gloriously sunny and hot Saturday morning at Wakefield Thornes parkrun event #235. And “that” was a new course record, by one second, one of 47 awesome shiny new Personal Bests. It must have been all the fantastic support from our participants, spectators and our wonderful volunteers enthusiastically cheering all 317 participants to run jog or walk across the finish line. We had a fantastic 34 first timers, 13 of whom were taking part in their very first parkrun so well done one and all, and please come back soon. Representatives from 30 different clubs took part, as well as tourists from Doncaster, Northampton and Rotherham.
Massive milestone congratulation shout outs this week went to our regular Wakefield Thornes parkrunners Michael Tunstall and Adrian Woodhouse on their 100th parkruns, as well as to our awesome volunteer Sara Jones on her 100th volunteer at Wakefield Thornes parkrun, who just so happened to be our Tail Walker for event 235. Congratulations and a massive well done to you all.

• Notes for your diaries
14th September – Bring a friend to parkrun event – for all those family and friends who believe that parkrun is all about running and running fast. There’ll be a range of groups available from just walking to run walking at different paces. So start those conversations to encourage all our reluctant friends to come and join parkrun, including getting them here to volunteer or spectate at the finish line just to see what a great all-inclusive community we have here at Wakefield Thornes parkrun. If you want to get involved leading a group then just let us know, and many thanks to Rich Lee for coming up with such a great idea.
See you all again at our next parkrun event #236 on Saturday, 6th July 2019.
