Not as sunny for event #236 at Wakefield Thornes on Saturday, but certainly very muggy for our 299 participants, who were given the “GO” by our awesome regular volunteer Phoebe Vercelli, who also did a fabulous job delivering the pre-brief. Fantastic support from our lovely parkrun community saw all 299 participants run jog or walk across the finish line. We had an awesome 37 shiny new Personal Bests, a fantastic 41 first timers, 14 of whom were taking part in their very first parkrun so well done one and all, and please come back soon. Representatives from 34 different clubs took part, as well as tourists from Somerset and East Sussex.
Our first finisher was Adam PEERS (17:35), followed by Ian HARRISON (18:06) and Stewart KNOWLES (18:23).
First female finisher was Abbey Mary BROOKE (19:18), followed by Jenny BUCK (21:10), and Sarah BOSTWICK (21:49).

14th September – Bring a friend to parkrun event – for all those family and friends who believe that parkrun is all about running and running fast. There’ll be a range of groups available from just walking to run walking at different paces. So start those conversations to encourage all our reluctant friends to come and join parkrun, including getting them here to volunteer or spectate at the finish line just to see what a great all-inclusive community we have here at Wakefield Thornes parkrun. If you want to get involved leading a group then just let us know, and many thanks to Rich Lee for coming up with such a great idea.
See you all again at our next parkrun event #237 on Saturday, 13th July 2019.
