Marathon Update

Last week at parkrun, it was a little miserable, so spare a thought for anyone who was doing a marathon. Particularly if it's a marathon around Anglesey, which the organisers of the Coastal Trail Series describe as "Strenuous". Congratulations to Jo Yarnall, who braved the elements to finish the race in 8h 14m 56!

JoY

There was also an article in yesterday's Birmingham Mail about Mr Bolt's latest challenge. Not the Jamaican sprint king, Usain, but Walsall parkrun's very own Usingh Bolt, Barry Cheema. you can read the article here.

DSC00256
Good luck on your challenge, Barry. We hope you raise lots of money for MacMillan Cancer Support

Chase The Place

The parkrun UK facebook page has today posted about a competition being run by Lucozade Sport with a prize of entry into the 2014 Virgin London Marathon. All you have to do is run or volunteer at eight consecutive parkrun UK events. Terms and conditions are here if you are interested.

Ich bin ein Berliner

On Sunday 29 September, four familiar faces from Walsall parkrun took part in the Berlin marathon. Of the four, Peter Dimbleby finished first in a time of 2h 41m 12s. Rob Deakin wasn't far behind at 2h 56m 35s. Harshad Patel completed the course in under four hours at 3h 57m 33s and Lisa Dimbleby came across the line in 4h 21m 29s. All of them set personal best times - congratulations guys.
