Have you been after a time for a while and aren't sure how you're going to manage to run it? This might be the answer...
parkrun sponsor FitBit have sent us some new... hi-viz... PACER BIBS!
We're looking for runners who would be prepared to run to a specific pace so help their fellow parkrunners achieve faster times. Initially, I'd like runners who would pace to 20 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes, 35 minutes and 40 minutes. Other times may be considered if all of the above times are filled.
If you as a parkrun community like this, we can try it again, perhaps with different times.
If you would like to act as a pacer, please can you e-mail the office to let us know what time you are aiming to run so we can add you into the volunteer rota. Please ensure the time you choose you are capable of running comfortably. (If you only ran sub-25 minutes for the first time this weekend, we would prefer it if you didn't pace this timing group on this occasion).
Pacers will receive a volunteer credit AND a run credit (and will therefore count towards both your volunteer t-shirt and your next run club t-shirt).
In respect of the points competition:
- If you have already volunteered three times, you will receive the points applicable for your finishing position in the run.
- If you have not already volunteered three times, you will receive 100 points for volunteering instead of your run points.
Under 11s are welcome to join a pacing group. The pacer WILL NOT replace the child's responsible adult (as if the child cannot keep up, the pacer will not wait for them and therefore the child would be unaccompanied). However, there may be an adult within the same pacer group who might be prepared to act as the responsible adult in the event of any difficulties.
