A crispy, frosty, but sunny January Saturday morning led to the commencement of run number 46 at Watermeadows parkrun. Run Director Brian Keers and his other 16 volunteers made way for a great January morning parkrun consisting of 62 parkrunners (47 male and 13 females, with 2 unknowns).
A special mention to Caroline Jardine who reached her volunteering milestone of 25. Also another mention to Marcus Reid who came all the way from North Wales to be a voluntourist and was a tailwalker along with Rhianne Connor. [RD edit: one of our RD's Christopher St Leger-Harris also discovered it was his 25th volunteer as well after the event. A big thank you and well done to all!]
First home today was young first timer Alfie Pipe (JM11-14) in 19.20 from the Tailenders club (sounds like an oxymoron - coming first but for the tailenders!). Although it was his first time at Watermeadows, it was his 264th parkrun! He was also the top rated for age runner too (73.36%).
First female home was Hannah May (VW35-39) in position 11 with a new PB and a time of 24.58. Fiona Everingham (VW55-59) was the top female age graded runner (65.96%).
Congratulations to the 10 first time parkrunners and the 16, first time at Watermeadows, tourists. Despite the muddy and cold conditions, there were 9 PB's achieved today (7 male and 2 female). The ages of today's parkrunners ranged from 10 or under (4) to 60-64 (4) with the average age of 41 for men and 40 for women.
A great morning.
Thanks to the volunteers:
