For this week’s parkrun we again had over 100 runners. The weather is getting better, and although the going is still heavy, the running is getting easier.
Kim Brown had a good run, coming first, and arriving well in advance of his competitors.
There were 15 PBs, and 9 first timers, of which Chris Nehaul was the quickest, on his very first parkrun. We hope to see you back at Wetherby soon !
Our parkrun mascot Joseph was in very good form, and made sure everyone behaved themselves. Victoria and Luna as tailwalkers had a good chat with the walkers on the way round the course
It was great to see some of our regulars, Pauline and Patricia back again. I know that a cold and muddy parkrun can hardly make up for a Caribbean cruise – but we try !!!
Wetherby parkrun has had some very good news this week. We have received a substantial donation from Wetherby Lions, in order to pay for equipment storage at the Wetherby Sports Association and to renew and replace old equipment. We are most grateful for their generosity, which has given us much needed financial stability.
Next week we will have a visit from Nidd Valley Runners, who are descending on us ‘en masse’. Hopefully all of us at Wetherby can show them what we are made of – so see you all next week, Trish.
(However, having written this on Saturday evening, storm Ciara decided to arrive and make the possibility of a parkrun at Wetherby next Saturday rather remote. You will have probably seen the pictures of the Ings totally flooded with the fence we normally run through totally submerged. Joseph whippet was spotted today making a course inspection with a snorkel! ).
