Running buddies at Whitley Bay junior parkrun

Parkrun Buddies at WB jpr

Do you know any junior parkrunners who would be interested in being a ‘Running Buddy’?

We know that some children find running on their own a bit daunting, so we're looking for enthusiastic juniors (aged 4-14) to volunteer to be a 'Running Buddy’.    Their role would be to welcome any new or less confident runners and accompany them around the course.  As well as helping the less confident runner progress, it's an opportunity to build the Run Buddy's leadership, coaching and communication skills - and a great way of making friends!

A core team member will help introduce buddies and runners at the new runners' briefing each week.  We just ask that you let us know in advance if your junior would like to help out so we can add them to the volunteer roster.   The Running Buddy will wear a hi-vis vest and will get a volunteer credit (as well as a run credit).
We'd like to roll this out in early  March and can have maximum of 5 running buddies at each event.

If you think your child would be interested either speak to the Run Director on a Sunday morning or drop us an email at whitleybay-juniorsoffice@parkrun.com,  letting us know which dates your junior would like to help out on.

(NB parents would still remain responsible for their children at all times during the run)
