Unfortunately one section of the park hasn't cleared enough to put on a safe event so we are cancelled tomorrow morning.
We're pleased to announce our Widnes parkrun Christmas plans!
Saturday 22nd December - 9am as usual
Tuesday 25th December - A special extra Christmas Day event at 9am
Saturday 29th December - 9am as usual
Tuesday 1st January - A special extra NYD event starting at the later start time of 10.30
(Our friends at Widnes juniors will be on as usual on both Sunday's)
For those of you who've joined the parkrun community this year, NYD is a very special day in the parkrun calendar with the opportunity to "double" up so keep an eye out for some of our local events announcing their plans. This isnt allowed on Christmas Day though (even though some events will be starting later)
We especially need volunteers for all of our events in the run up to and over the festive period as people go on Christmas do's or have other commitments, so please, please, please, let us know if you can help us out at any of the upcoming events.
Peace and love to all
Your Widnes parkrun team
There is another event in the park on Saturday morning, so we are cancelling the event.
Please share far and wide, particularly those with those who aren't online.
We've inspected this morning and we're pleased to say we're on. We reserve the right to cancel at any point from now until the event finishes.
Please wrap up warm and take care when travelling
After an early inspection, there's too much snow on the paths in and around the park so we are cancelled today (9th December)
Weve had to cancel this morning due to unsafe conditions in the park.
We are pleased to announce that we will be holding 2 extra festive parkruns over the Christmas period.
Our Christmas Schedule (for the 5k event only)
- Saturday 23rd Dec - 9am
- Monday 25th Dec - 9am
- Saturday 30th Dec - 9am
- Monday 1st Jan - 9am
We need volunteers in order for all 4 events to go ahead. Please email Widneshelpers@parkrun.com if you can help
New Year's Day is a unique day in the parkrun calendar as it's the only day parkrunners can log 2 separate events. Keep an eye on local events for their announcements.
As a result of the cancellation of the Vintage Rally this weekend, we are uncancelling and are going ahead on Saturday.
We need volunteers to do so and need your help. We appreciate it's short notice to ask and are grateful for any help you can give.
We've got some exciting news to share with you all!
You may be aware that we've been trying to raise money to purchase an AED (defibrillator) which we'll have access to in case of an emergency.
What you might not be aware of is Tesco's "Bags of Help" scheme. The scheme uses money from the 5p carrier bag charges collected in their stores and donates it to local causes. They choose 3 causes that shoppers can vote on after any purchase.
We are thrilled to announce that our AED appeal has been selected to be one of the 3 causes that shoppers can vote on in the Widnes Tesco store during May and June. This will mean we should receive a minimum £1000 and we'll be finally able to purchase one!
Amazing news, I'm sure you'll agree!
We'll keep you updated with how we get on.
Widnes Core Team
Afternoon Widnes parkrunners.
We are looking for some new members of our core team to act as Run Directors.
The Run Director is a crucial role in ensuring that we go ahead in a safe manner every Saturday morning so we are looking for a certain type of person to help us out.
We'd need someone who would be available to RD every 4-6 weeks (but isn't set intervals so there's flexibility there)
If you think you'd be interested (and just to note, interest doesn't mean you'll get the role), take a look at the wiki page http://wiki.parkrun.info/index.php/Run_Director and drop us a line at email@example.com
If you are interested and just want to know more then please email in and we'll arrange an informal chat.
