Wimpole Estate parkrun: Event number 299 – 12th January 2019

Wow, it was our birthday and although we didn't do much on the fancy dress front, we certainly worked hard on eating cake and cracking PBs - 74 of you smashed your previous record! It may have had something to do with the pacers, or possibly the promise of cake but either way - 17% of you with a PB; I'm just secretly rather jealous. Mind you, I think the cake eating record was 7!

35 of you joined us for the first time - hello and welcome; we don't always have that much cake! However, out of those 35, 18 of you completed your first ever parkrun. Thanks for making Wimpole your first and we look forward to welcoming you back next week!

We had 39 volunteers this week - higher than usual due to pacers, but thank you to each and every one of you. We've given you a deliberate break from parkrun Bingo over the last month or so ... but as Arnie would say "it will be back!"

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Wimpole Estate parkrun Results Page.

Onto our headlines for this week. Graham Rush lived up to his name leading the field home in 17:48, and was followed by Ben Veitch and Matthew Young.
Our fastest female was Alma Piotrowicz, who crossed the line in 22:14, followed by Fiona Downie and Holly Christopher.
On to our youngsters and Euan Kenny (15-17) was our fastest male junior in 20:10, followed by Daniel Davey and Ewan Morgan. Our fastest female junior was Leah Monmont (15-17), followed by Jodie Jackson and Millie Handford. Excellent running.

We had a few signficant runs this week with 4 people achieving their 100! Congrats to Rachel Lione, Tina Filby, Mauritz Krylander and Lee Booty. We also had Julie Maidment and Liam Butler who both joined the red shirted 50 gang.

Until next week ...
