Wimpole Estate parkrun: Event number 303 – 9th February 2019

It was one of those weeks when Southerners were probably best advised to stay at home and not travel and Northerners needed their big coat! However, that didn't stop 321 people heading out in gale force winds to tackle our winter course with a head wind!

Unbelievably, we had 4 folk who picked the windiest parkrun ever as their first - we can confidently say it will be easier for you next week; and thanks for coming along.

Against the wind we also had 11 who completed a PB, to be honest were not sure what you've been doing the rest of the time; unless there was part of the course when you were simply blown along?? Congratulations if you were one of those lucky 11.

As ever we were extremely grateful to our volunteers. If you haven't volunteered yet - please do get involved. The more people that do, the more sustainable our event becomes (and some of our regulars would really like to run - you could make that happen!) Clarke is being a volunteer co-ordinator for the first time this week - he'd love your support!

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Wimpole Estate parkrun Results Page. However, I need to give a big shout out to Brian O'Connor. He crossed the line in 19:06 (which was slower than usual to be honest, due to the wind) but this was his 50th first finisher at Wimpole! Congratulations Brian!

Our first lady also had a tremendous run - Rachel Leah, came in 3rd place overall, with a time of 20:16, and that was also her 100th parkrun - welcome to the black T shirt wearing gang, Rachel.

Onto our juniors and our fastest male junior was Lucas Blackwell (15 - 17) in 21:07 and our fastest female junior was Emily Talbot (11-14), who was 2nd lady overall and finished in 21:52. Definitely two to watch for the future!

We had several significant runs this weekend. Mark Burrows, Iain Curran and Rachel Leah all entered the 100 club, and Anthony Smith entered the 50 club - Well done to all.

Until next week ...
Happy parkrunning....

Debs & James
