More parkrun awards! Run report 368, 11 October 2014

We're now a year and a parkrun old, and each week we have new parkrunners joining us and many reaching new milestones. This week Ubaid Murtaza joined the 100 Club, making him the latest member of his family to clock up 100 runs. His dad Ghualm is 27 short of his 250, brother Aasim has completed 192 and Aamir was our first 250-er and has now done 271 parkruns, that's 786 between them!

Our Junior Volunteer of the year George Webster picked up his award, as did our Junior parkrunner of the year Elin Cave. We welcomed Sam Cullen and her team from Lloyds TSB who joined our volunteers this week.

New members of the 100 Club were Vera Savarani and  Bartosz Lewandowski. And welcome to the 50 Club Janet Glynn and Jim Rowland.

Leeds parkrun cancelled on 5 July 2014

This is your final reminder and confirmation that there will be no parkrun on Woodhouse Moor on 5 July due to the disruption expected from Yorkshire's hosting of the Tour de France Grand Depart.  Don't panic though!  There are a gazillion other wonderful parkruns close by or further afield as the fancy takes you or you could always go and watch a bicycle race.  Either way, you should have a grand day out.

We'll look forward to welcoming you back on Saturday 12 July when normal service will be resumed.

Sweatshop monthly prize winner: February 2014

We're delighted to announce the recipient of our February 2014 monthly prize, generously supported by Sweatshop.

Rhona Cameron is the winner and her prize is a free pair of running shoes fitted out at her local Sweatshop store. Rhona completed her 50th parkrun on New Year's Day and she's turned into a PB machine since then, knocking nearly half a minute of her pre-50 club PB.  She's a regular volunteer and recently happily gave up her Saturday afternoon to stay with another parkrunner at A&E who'd bee taken ill.  Hat's off to Rhona!

February 2014 – parkrun club roll of honour

Every month we celebrate members of the Leeds parkrun community who have gained entry into the prestigious parkrun 10, 50, 100 or 250 clubs.

What's the collective noun for new parkrun club members - a 'pride' perhaps?  Well for February 2014 we've got a small but perfectly formed group of new club members who we're proud of and they should be proud too.  They all deserve our congratulations.  A special mention goes out to Rhona Cameron who celebrated her 50th run by bagging a brace of PBs on her next three outings.  Classy Lady!

Thank you to Adidas, by the way, for providing the parkrun club kit.

Well done to:
New 100 club members:
Angela JOHNSON

New 50 club members:
Rebecca DWYER, Rhona CAMERON

New 10 club members:
Inigo WEBBER, Tom EAMES, Sebastian REA, Casper REA, Lewis AINSWORTH.

We'll give you all a shout out at the start of this Saturday's Leeds parkrun.

Sweatshop monthly prize winner: January 2014

We're delighted to announce the recipient of our January 2014 monthly prize, generously supported by Sweatshop.

Elin Cave is the winner and her prize is a free pair of running shoes fitted out at her local Sweatshop store. Elin's been a regular parkrunner since 2010, she's been a first-lady-finisher in her time but is equally happy to go round in 48 minutes when supporting other parkrunners round the course.  Elin's clocked up volunteering stints and completed her 100th run at the end of December.  In short, she's an all-round parkrunner ... and she's only 14!  A role-model for any other young lady athletes out there.

January 2014 – parkrun club roll of honour

Every month we celebrate members of the Leeds parkrun community who have gained entry into the prestigious parkrun 10, 50, 100 or 250 clubs.

For January 2014 we've got a bumper crop of new club members.  A special "whoop whoop" goes in the direction of Elin Cave who becomes the youngest ever member of our 100 club.  I'm sure the previous youngest member of our 100 club, Ellie Dooley, would wish to join everyone at Leeds parkrun in congratulating Elin and all the other new club members.

Well done to:
New 100 club members:
Elin CAVE, Susan MCBURNEY and Robert MCGOUGH

New 50 club members:
Qingxu DOU, Bill MCCAFFREY, Hannah Rebecca BEAL, Andrew J E SMITH, Simon GILBODY and Vicky HOUGHTON
