This weeks run report is brought to you via dedicated and inspiration to us all Trevor Clark. Trev has run 44 parkruns, 42 at Worcester and toured to Arrow Valley and Forest of Dean parkruns. His vital statistics are, PB 22:30, Age Grading 64.27% very impressive. Trev is one of parkrun jokers convincing me once that if we run the course in reverse its actually shorter.
As i saw the run ......
It looked as though numbers would be quite low but a last minute flurry of runners made numbers up to 113 on a fresh but dry start.
I was still trying to get my watch to start when the starter let the mass's go, so ended up "running naked" and actually enjoying the run more and not concentrating on my time!!! (maybe we could have a naked day one day soon!!!)
The paddock was drier than of late but still gave us all a few leopard spots as we all raced to get to Eddies corner first. It was here that Richard Beetlestone usually a slow starter came past me on his 50th run and i knew he would be on for a good time, well done Rich.
It was nice to see so many new faces tackling the Worcester course and a good number of Juniors.
The course was as usual but seemed quite different after last weeks volunteers had given trees and bushes a hair cut and spent a few hours laying several tons of gravel to ease our way. Great job guys well done. (25 PB's this week, maybe you had a hand is some of these!!! the best one being Sarah Pow who knocked almost 10 minutes off her best time),
On the first lap a number of us will have lapped a first timer who was being encouraged by many of his fellow runners and it was great to see him finish in style with the biggest grin of the day. See you next time
On Thursday a number of trees had been removed from the final climb up to the tarmac path opening up the view for us giving us a clearer sight of those who we think we can catch before the final run in to the finish line.
I ran the second half of the final lap in a three way tussle with Katie Downey and Jack Lowry. Jack was struggling a little but after being encouraged made a great final half a lap push to nearly get a pb as did Katie who was only beaten on the sprint to the line by me and Jack, bring it on next week eh!!!
Mr Potter suffered an injury which only slowed him a little allowing new boy Potter junior to take the spoils and beat dad by a mere 4 seconds, im sure if the calf mends by next week there could be a very different result.
Its great to see the earlier finishers taking the time to cheer in friends, family and fellow parkrunners at the finishing straight giving a real friendly family atmosphere, long may it continue.
Big shout out to the volunteers that give their time for us, i and i'm sure everyone else really do thank you each and every week for being there and cheering us all on.
I'm looking forward to my 50th run which is fast approaching and cant believe that i have spent so many Saturday mornings running at what must be one of the friendliest Parkruns around, thanks to all and see you next week
Thanks Trevor a great report and if anyone else would like to send us there run story we will gladly post it on the website for all to read and be inspired.
