It was fab to see everyone this week, having been sick last week and not able to stay around for the parkrun. It was all about Tessa Carr at the start of the run as he not only was named "parkrunner of the month", she also was making her 50th run, and was determined to be beat Mum Alison, and so she did, with a little of bit of interference from Michael Conner in the finish straight.
If you hadn't noticed Emma was getting all the "Guinea Pigs" ready for her study, about personality and pacing strategy, its all totally anonymous and should make very interesting reading when the study is complete.
It was a good start with no spills on the paddock that had suffered the worst of the rain, and all the hard work by the volunteers had left just a couple of puddles on the track by Hospital bend. With and quick skip we were all over them and onto Badgers Hill and Recovery Bank. The finish proved a little slippy and there were a few skids and slips but no trips. Derek, on timer, bore a good few splashes of mud from the finshers ending up with muddy polkerdots all over his jeans, we think it might catch on in town. All the Guinea Pigs made it round with a hitch, Steve Roode giving his effort level as 29 out of 20 in the finishing straight, look out Usain Bolt he's got Overdrive!!!
Special mention to Tina Collins who is relatively new to running and managed to break the 40 minute mark for the first time, congratulations.
