It was a week of firsts at Worcester parkrun this Saturday, new 1st finishers, the 1st time the Trinity we're away (explained later).
Its with the kind permission of the Council and the Country park team that we're allowed to run in the Woods each week, so thanks to Rob and the team for all their support. They've been really supportive offering advice when dealing with the public and our impact and help improving the woods for all.
Oh yes we did do a parkrun this week, I'm like Ronnie Corbett sometimes "I digress". Maddie was in charge on the Race Director front and gave us all a through briefing, especially pointing out that all parkruns are barcode events and the "no barcode no time" rule is being enforced and Worcester was no exception. It is the only thing we insist on as it saves us so much time. I stash a barcodes all over, in my car, by my toothbrush, in my run jacket pockets and still have to text Vonnie occasionally when i'm laying out the course to bring one up with her, so take my advise "stash em"!
So we squelched over to the start, yep mud was back but only a 3 out of 5 on the "squelchometre". The dream team on timers (James and I) got the event started and the took to finding the least muddy sport for your finish sprints/slides with Sally.
There were a good few new runners in the field, and we managed to chat to many of you, welcome to parkrun. We saw many of you come back around for your first lap and it was clear the weather was getting colder, although some of the times were still hot hot hot. There were 13 PB's in total. 10+ parkrun PB's from Nigel Dexter 22:19, Greg Neal 23:22, David Want 22:48, and Jeremy Winwood 24:12. Boys were on fire this week well done to you all if you got a PB.
Yes! Get in! Hi 5! There was something to celebrate amongst local club runners from the Black Pear Joggers this week. The 1st male runner was Matthew Fitzgerald (a BPJ) and making it a double 1st was Sarah Kellet also a BPJ. Matthew has done 40 parkruns and always been close to the front of the field so well done to you. We think this was the first double "first home" since we started Worcester pakrun 90 weeks ago.
Congratulations to the BPJ's. Whilst many who take part, like me, are a little shy of running clubs, the BPJ guys/gals are really friendly and a great help and support for runners new and old. Whether you're looking for some motivation from fellow runners or help with your running, its worth getting to Perdiswell at 7:00 on Monday nights and having a run.
I said it was a week of 1st's and my usual spots for watching are Eddie's corner, or with Derek on timer, or my mum as you enter the paddock. For the first time in 90 weeks I have to say our "Trinity" of volunteers Eddie, Anne and Derek we're all missing. Thanks all for your dedication to Worcester parkrun and we hope to see you all back soon.
Thankfully we had enough volunteers to cover there roles here are our hi-viz heroes.

So it was off to the cafe for a warming drink, and GIANT cookie.
Hope you have a great week running and see you all next week.
