The Cheer 5 – 6th April

Here's a great local race for over the Easter Holiday, its second year and having run it last year can recomend if for its great location, and organisation by local runners. You'll see lots of friendly faces as its always well attended by folks who come to parkrun to run and to volunteer.

I'd get in quick as not too many spaces left!!!

Annie Robson 50th

Hi All,

Many of you have now passed the 50 parkrun mark or are heading towards it. Its always special and we love it when people like to celebrate it, so we thought we would share a message we had on facebook with all runners, and hope you will join us this weekend....in GREEN.

From Annie Robson a dedicated, enthusiastic parkrunner and Malvern Jogger...................

Hello fellow parkrunners. Just a quick note to say I'm very much looking forward to my 50th parkrun next Saturday. I can't rival Mr Trevor Clarks efforts of running backwards (we would be there all day!!!) but i will be trying for 50 SHADES OF GREEN!!!! So if any of you want to join me in showing your appreciation to the fabulous team at Worcester parkrun please wear something green for next Saturday's parkrun. Why green? well it's also to show my love for a fabulous running club who have totally inspired me over the last 18 months and shown no end of support to keep me going. Malvern Joggers and Worcester parkrun are responsible for changing my life and I can't thank you all enough. So lets have a record breaking parkrun next week and a good bit of fun along the way!!
I can also promise I'll bring cakes for you all! See you then xx

Reverse Course Week

On May 19th we're going to shake things up and add a bit of a change to the normal route.  We're going to lay the course out in reverse.  So we'll start at the finish (stay with me) and leaving the field, then along the newly tarmaced path towards the hospital,  entering the woods from that end, following the usual track (but in the opposite direction) and then popping back out by Eddies corner for a second a lap, into the field for a lap and up towards the finish (usually the start).

Confused don't worry we'll have plenty of tape and arrows to guide us all along, should be a very different week at Worcester parkrun.

It'll be a real eye opener to see how used to course we have become and how different the course can be with a subtle twist.

All loved up at parkrun

This weekend we're asking all our parkrunners to bring along a colleague, friend or loved one to share in the parkrun "feel good vibe".

We're going to have a run/walk pacer who'l get everyone around at a gentle pace and have a bit of a chat whilst we do little bits of running and walking aiming to finsih in around 45 minutes.  For quicker runners there be plenty or regulars to keep you company and guide you around our lovely course.

Everyone is going to wear a little bit of pink/red to get us all in the mood!

Happy Running

Worcester parkrun Team

Special Week, 1st October, Sweatshop Visit

Every now and again we have a “Special week” at Worcester parkrun, like our 10th event with the BBQ, last week cakes, and we’re pleased to tell you we are planning another.

Sweatshop will be visiting Worcester parkrun on the 1st October to offer us encouragement, running advice, discount vouchers for their stores and perhaps the odd spot prize (TBC), so pop it in your diary.

Sweatshop is a key parkrun sponsor and they donate a monthly prize of a free pair of trainers to one runner at every parkrun, that’s a lot of free shoes!!

Their staff are trained how to get the right kit and shoes for your running style, so if you need some new gear, give them a go.  Parkrunners get 10% off on production of their barcode. Our nearest store is in Merry Hill. www.sweatshop.co.uk

Sweatshops story is sown into the fabric of this countries running history as their founder is Chris Brasher, who in 1954 was one of the pacers for Sir Roger Bannisters first ever sub 4 minute mile. He later went onto win Olympic Gold in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics employing cutting edge training techniques for their time, such as “contact lenses” for his eyes, titanium spikes, and acclimatisation to Australia six weeks before his event, we don’t suggest this for Worcester parkrun.

Happy running,

Worcester parkrun Team

parkrun Social Evening: Saturday 27th 7p.m., The Mug House Claines

We are delighted to announce that we are having a Social Gathering this weekend, the first ever! We’re meeting at The Mug House in Claines and we'll be there from 7p.m. on Saturday evening.

Parkrun has a huge social scene where many new friendships have been formed, its an opportunity to meet  fellow parkrunners and volunteers outside of the run in a chilled out environment.

Finding the Mug House is very easy and its a lovely pub right behind Claines Church, off Claines Lane (joins A38 by opposite Ravensmeadow Golf Centre) and Cornmeadow Lane.

Its going to very informal so pop over and the team will be there to meet you and have a natter over a drink.  Just ask for Ian, Lucy, Vicki or Rich if you don’t know anyone yet.

All the best,
parkrun Worcester Team
