Wormwood Scrubs parkrun # 214 – 11/07/2015

Phew. What a scorcher. The sun was blistering the grass at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday making for testing conditions and very dry and uneven terrain for our 51 runners.

We extended a very warm welcome to all of our first timers and tourists, particulary to Amanda Meloni who visited us while on holiday from Australia. Amanda set up the parkrun at Claisebrook Cove in Western Australia.

First over the line this week was Matthieu PREVOT (VM35-39) of Clapham Chasers RC, in 19:53, his 8th time in 29 appearances. He was followed by Paul WOODGATE (VM40-44) of Thames Valley Harriers in 20:27 and Scott BREWER (SM25-29) also of Thames Valley Harriers in 20:31, a new PB – well done!!

Siana JONES (SW30-34) of Thames Valley Harriers, was first female finisher in 21:16, her 4th time in 8 appearances. And Siana was followed by Agatha OBIEKWE (VW45-49) (Unattached) in 24:44 and Kirstie TEW (SW30-34) (Unattached) in 26:22.

Current standing in the men's annual points competition:
Manuel CORRIENTE (Vegetarian Cycling and AC) 472 pts.
Robert FERGUSON (Thames Valley Harriers) 472 pts.
Nick MICHAEL (Thames Valley Harriers) 423 pts.

Current standing in the women's annual points competition:
Andrea BROUGHTON (Thames Valley Harriers) 399 pts.
Agatha OBIEKWE (Unattached) 393 pts.
Candace BOVILL-TAYLOR (Unattached) 377 pts.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:
Siana JONES (SW30-34) was graded 69.67% for the time 21:16 (11th overall).
Simon RUBENS (VM50-54) was graded 67.69% for the time 22:20 (15th overall).
Matthieu PREVOT (VM35-39) was graded 67.14% for the time 19:53 (first overall).

Six runners recorded new Personal Bests today in addition to Scott – congratulations  Robert BRICOUTDan KNIGHTLEYAgatha OBIEKWERoun BARRY and Amanda SHAKESPEARE.
