Saturday 23rd February - Advance Warning

Wycombe District Council will be carrying out some more urgent work to the road barrier at the entrance to the Rye car park (Bassetsbury Lane) on 23rd Feb.

Runners that cannot use public transport, cycle, walk or run to the event are advised to use the alternative car parks, as listed on our website i.e. Railway Place, HP11 1XS - 0.28 miles away, 159 spaces, 2 disabled bays. Duke Street, HP13 6DU - 0.34 miles away, 167 spaces, 2 disabled bays.

ICE = In Case of Emergency

Major incidents do occur at parkruns and while we are well-equipped at Wycombe Rye (defibrillator & first aid kit, trained first aiders, etc) there are additional steps that participants can take to ensure that appropriate action can be taken swiftly and effectively.

Firstly, do NOT use a pseudonym - false names are not allowed by parkrun and where identified, will be removed from the results. Should you be unlucky enough to be involved in an incident, we do need to know your real name. Please go to your profile, change it to your real name and print out a new barcode.

Secondly, if you are a runner that registered with parkrun some time ago you may be unaware that it is possible to record your ICE details as part of your personal parkrun profile.

We strongly encourage you to update your profile with your ICE details if you haven't done so already.

To update your profile:

1. Click on the "Manage my Profile" link which you'll find towards the bottom of any recent parkrun results e-mail.

2. Choose the "Update" link at the top of the list

3. Please add the name of the person who should be contacted in case of emergency

4. Please add the telephone number of your emergency contact.

5. Please add a note of any medical conditions that should be known about; if you don't have any, please type "None".

6. Click on "Please Alter" to save your changes.

7. Go back to the same results email and click on the "get your barcode" link, then print off a new one and use it straight away. Thank you

HWH3 Takeover at Wycombe Rye parkrun, Hashturday 19th May…

Oh dear, what have we done?

This Saturday, we are handing over the reins of Wycombe Rye parkrun to Matt Wright and High Wycombe Hash House Harriers better known as "drinkers with a running problem..." This is going to be fun... on on!

Matt has kindly listed five things you should know about HWH3:

1. High Wycombe Hash House Harriers (HWH3) is a sociable family club that encourages all abilities, from walkers to runners, be they of the 2-legged, or 4-legged variety.

2. We run every Tuesday evening (7.45pm) from a pub (a different one every week) within a 10-mile radius of High Wycombe.

3. Hashing involves following a flour trail set in advance by a hare - it is predominantly off-road, and runs vary from an average of 3 miles (short) to 6 miles (long) [Don't worry, there will not be any false trails and parkrun will still be 5km long, on the usual course.]

4. Our motto is 'Drinkers with a Running Problem' - this shows where our priorities lie regarding post-run refuelling.

5. Check out our website for the upcoming Runs List and general stuff about hashing (it was started in 1938 in Malaysia by a group of ex-pats).

Since we are not widely known outside of hashing circles (there are currently 251 active hashes in the UK and given that a number of us are keen runners (honestly!) who regularly attend and volunteer at parkrun, we will be taking over Wycombe parkrun on 19th May.

So, on Saturday expect your normal parkrun...but with a slight hashing twist!
