8/6/2019 Wyre Forest parkrun #195 CMRC takeover!!!

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 195
8th June 2019

This week it was very wet and soggy in the forest, but we don't let a little bit of rain put us off! 189 people braved the weather and ran, jogged or walked the course. 24 of these people were first timers, and 35 recorded new Personal Bests.

This week was a volunteer take over week! Members of Cleobury Mortimer Running Club filled all our volunteer positions; I'm not sure we've ever had so many marshals out on the course! Huge thanks go out to:

Cleobury Mortimer Running Club
Cleobury Mortimer Running Club is a friendly, all inclusive running club based in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire. We pride ourselves on being a fun, friendly and sociable running club with members of all ages and running backgrounds.
All abilities are welcome to come along and join in our training sessions. We were also extremely pleased to win the 2018 Volunteer Awards, Running Club of the Year for the West Midlands from England Athletics. Members of the club were instrumental in the set up of Wyre Forest parkrun and many of our club members regularly volunteer and run. Cleobury Mortimer 10K - 7th July at 10 am
For the second year running, Cleobury Mortimer Running Club (CMRC) is proud to host the Cleobury Mortimer 10K race around the beautiful Shropshire town of Cleobury Mortimer. The race follows the same route as last year, starting in Cleobury's historic market town before heading out on the undulating Shropshire country lanes then returning up the now infamous 'Ron Hill' and through the well supported residential streets for a final victory lap to the cheering crowds. If you haven't yet signed up, there are only a few places remaining! Please follow the link from our website: https://www.runcleobury.org/10k-info

Make shift shelter for our time keepers!

Look at the concentration on their faces!

We had lots of tourists with us today, including visitors from Colchester, Redditch, Northampton, Telford, Bournemouth, Salisbury and (somewhere in!) Wales! We really hoped you enjoyed our lovely parkrun. Our visitors from Salisbury were celebrating, as Abi Tansley was running her 50th different parkrun (having run 94 times in total)! Thank you for choosing us to be your 50th! Also celebrating was Sarah Lupton - she was running her 50th parkrun; and Alan Gobidon was running his 50th consecutive parkrun. If you are ever celebrating a milestone, please let us know!

I will leave you with a few more photos - see you all soon! Happy running - Jo x
