And our run report is written by one of those 252 - the lovely Sandra HOWARD. Thanks Sandra, take it away..

The sun shone for us all as we ran in the beautiful Wyre Forest for the 206th  Wyre Forest parkrun.   Next week is our fourth Birthday.  To celebrate the theme is wear RED. It will be fabulous to see a sea of red though the Forest next week. Especially looking forward to seeing a red dress or two on the course!

A huge thank you to our Run Director this morning and his team of volunteers who make parkrun possible each week.

If it’s not something you have done before give it a go.  There are various jobs, some allow you to run and volunteer but we need volunteers to keep parkrun going.

Imogen JONES celebrated her 100th parkrun today  with a PB-well done.  Well done each runner over the finish line.  It doesn’t matter if you were the fastest or one of the slowest - you are a park runner.

We welcomed a few tourists and first timers today to Wyre Forest-  hope you liked our course and we see you again.

Thanks again to all you give up their time to allow parkrun to take park each week, especially those well past their 25 volunteer badge.

See you next week dressed in red.

The event was made possible by 28 volunteers:

David MORE • Julie GOLDS • Mark WALLACE • Andrea FORD • Nicky ALWAY • Jake GOOD • Fiona CLARKE • Michael GAUNT • Katy BROOME • Carole EVANS • Andy MORGAN • Graeme ANDERSON • Leeanne ANDERSON • John FRANCIS • Tony COLCLOUGH • Katie COLCLOUGH • Olwen FIELD • David ALLISTON • Ruth ALLISTON • Stuart BIRD • Daren JACKSON • Pauline SMITH • Sandra HOWARD • Katherine EVANS • Steve REDDING • Debbie REDDING • Alan KIMBER • Deana KIMBER

MVIMG_20190824_083914

Congratulations also to juniors Griff G and Harrison GWILLIAM who both ran their 10th parkruns with us today! Well done boys.

As Sandra said - next week is our 4th Birthday!! Where did that go?? The theme is a nice simple 'red' theme. So pop something red on instead of (or alongside) your usual parkrun kit and don't forget to bring cake if you can!!

06/07/2019 Wyre Forest parkrun #199 and we have a PB Bell!!

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 199
6th July 2019

It was a deceptively warm morning this week as  215 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 26 were first timers and 36 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 18 different clubs took part.

Well done to these fabulous first time parkrunners:

Adrian JONES, Rio BILL, Luke WORTHINGTON, Joshua GLAZE, Richard DUDLEY, Andrew GLAZE, Annette ROBINSON, Jodi LEEK, Richard BROOMFIELD, Jessica DAVIS, Chloe PALMER, Joanne TILL, Polly FISHER-EDWARDS, Megan WARD, Nick INSULL, Charlotte STELLING

Congratulations particularly to the group that joined us from Tri-Energy for their C25k Graduation Run.

We were thrilled to be donated a PB Bell by Mark WALLACE and it was great to hear it being rung! Here is Archie GOULDING celebrating his new Personal Best!

Today was my 150th time as a parkrun volunteer and I also got to run for the 35th time by offering to write this run report. There are a few jobs that you can do to earn a run credit and volunteer credit for on the same day!:

  • Pre-event set-up (after training is given)
  • First Timers Briefing (we have notes so it's very easy!)
  • Tail Walker
  • Post Event Close Down
  • Run Report Writer

Writing the Run Report isn't difficult. We just like to hear about your parkrun from your perspective! Then we add in the facts and figures and upload it - voila! Simple.

As I'm writing the run report this week I wanted to say a special THANK YOU to all our volunteers who have given up their time as we approach our 200th run! Where has all that time gone?? We have had 593 different volunteers who have given up their time on 4,803 different occasions! So that covers many hours of marshaling, time keeping and scanning among other things!

Have you volunteered yet? If not, ask yourself - why not? If it's because you're not sure what it entails or you think it's too difficult please come and talk to one of our team and we can explain what happens, you could shadow someone for a little while after your run. There are roles to suit everyone and it really is very rewarding to give something back.

www.wyreforest@parkrun is the address to get involved!

My goal is to now try and run 50 parkruns before the end of the year (I'm definitely playing catch up!) and I couldn't do that with out a fabulous team of core volunteers, regulars and Run Directors who have enabled me to lighten the load this year. Big thank you to fellow RDs Jo WATSON, Graeme ANDERSON, Andy GARLICK, Neil CRABBE, Mark REAVES and David STARKIE in particular!

And finally, you all know by now that we are lucky enough to have a junior parkrun starting soon! Thank you so much to Shirley THOMAS and her team for getting it off the ground! Wyre Forest juniors will hold it's inaugural run on Sunday July 21st at 9am and all children 4-14 are welcome to attend so get them registered and barcodes printed ready! I attended the practice run and my girls really enjoyed it, it's going to be great fun!

So, it's our 200th parkrun this Saturday (already??!) and we have chosen a theme of SUMMER which should be easy for everyone to join in with. Keep it simple and wear your sunglasses or go all out and come in your best Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda shorts! We love to see what you come up with is as always.

See you next time all,

Andie

Cleobury Mortimer 10k Race

We have been asked to share information on an upcoming local race: Cleobury Mortimer 10k

"After the massive success of the first Cleobury Mortimer 10k we are back bigger and better this year and we hope you will all join us. Whether you are a serious runner looking to take on the challenge of Ron hill, or a fun runner who wants to soak up the atmosphere of a well supported race, or you may even like to dress up as a dragon. Just make sure you are on the starting line on July 7th for another great event. The event sold out last year so we have added 50 more places which are filling quickly! Welcome to the 185th Wyre Forest parkrun run report! This week 262 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 46 were first timers and 51 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 26 different clubs took part.

This week we were short of a few volunteers. Luckily a couple of people came forward on Saturday morning and gave up their runs so everyone else could have theirs. Please don't look at the roster and assume it is full - often the volunteers are under 18 and need supervision, so the roster may not be as full as it looks. If you are yet to volunteer - please get in touch!

Congratulations to the totally inspirational Lindsay PULLEY who bettered his own Age Category record for VM80-84 this week with a cracking time of 32:46. Lindsay is our oldest parkrunner and has now completed a whopping 236 parkruns. What a star!

The following parkrunners achieved milestone recognition this week - welcome to the 50 club Sarah CLARK and junior Amaya MOORE.

We lost more finish tokens again this week (sad face). So please, please, please don't take our tokens home with you. If you have any of our finish tokens we would really like them back - just drop them in a bucket or hand to a volunteer who will be most grateful, thank you.

And very importantly - don't forget your barcode! And if you do, please do not ask any of our volunteers to manually enter your result as I'm afraid the answer will always be 'no'. Put a spare in your car, kit bag, mobile phone case or under your shoe insole now... just don't forget to bring it!

Thank you all, see you next time!
Andie

A huge CONGRATULATIONS must go to William RICHARDSON yet again for lowering his own Course Record by another few seconds to make it 15:35!! This time also saw him claim the overall Age Graded Course Record for Wyre Forest parkrun with a percentage of 83.64. Absolutely astounding pace - this is 5.01 minutes per mile!!! Which is why we didn't get any photographs of Will in action I'm afraid..!

And well done to Philip JONES who completed his milestone 50th parkrun with us this week. Great commitment Phil.

We were also joined by over 35 members and supporters of Cleobury Mortimer Running Club who completed the parkrun as part of their club's event calendar and championship. Thank you to them all for their continued support of Wyre Forest parkrun and for staying to cheer everyone at the finish line!

CMRC at parkrun

Ellen POWELL remarked that "Wyre Forest parkrun has the best finish line supporters. Are they cheering because you've just ran a parkrun or because you're still alive at the top of heart attack hill"!! Both Ellen! We think everyone deserves a big cheer for their efforts.

And Bryony POYNER said "Fantastic finish line support today - thank you all!"

Thank you for all your lovely comments this week!
