12th August 2017
This week 194 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 43 were first timers and 25 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 28 different clubs took part.
We had lots of visitors to us this week! They came from far and wide: New Zealand, Stroud, Maldon (Essex), West Yorkshire, Coventry, Solihull and Derby. We hope you all enjoyed visiting our beautiful parkrun.
For some it was their first ever parkrun! So extra kudos goes to:
Phil LASHFORD, Lauren EVANS, Helen PUPLETT, Holly WILSON, William SMITH, Amy HEPTINSTALL, Elaine RESTORICK, Julie HUGHES, Clair HOWEN, Louise HEPTINSTALL, Fraser MORRIS, Helen MORRIS, Fiona MEEKINGS

Well done to you all and here's to the first of many!
Kevin LEWIS was running his 50th parkrun today (of which 22 were ran here). Kevin joined us after the sad closure of Hanbury Hall parkrun where he also ran 22 of his 50 runs. He celebrated in great style with a new PB of 24:06 - knocking a huge 39 seconds off his previous best!! That is very impressive. Congratulations Kevin!

It was great to see some new faces amongst the hi-viz team this week. Don't take my word for it but I'm pretty sure they enjoyed the experience and will be back again. If you haven't had a go I can reassure you that you have nothing to fear - try it, it's great fun! seeing parkrun from the other side is a fabulous experience.
We have overheard parkrunners saying that they don't want to miss their Saturday morning to run to volunteer. I understand this and I know that for some, opportunities to run are few and far between and need to be taken advantage of. But there are roles on our roster that can still be done. You could brief our new runners and tourists (a crib sheet is provided!), help to allocate volunteers at 8.30am (help always appreciated with this), sort the tokens back in to order after the run, or (please, please!) provide a written run report which I can then copy and paste into wordpress and publish. If you're a fast finisher you could even help with barcode scanning.
So don't be shy!! Email us at wyreforesthelpers@parkrun.com
Don't forget that our 2nd anniversary is just around the corner - Saturday August 26th. The theme is 'balloons' as it's a birthday party! So bring/wear a balloon and let's brighten the forest with an array of colour. Just remember to keep your balloon tethered to yourself as releasing balloons/littering them can result in environmental damage and we don't want that.
We would also like donations of cake thank you!! We had a table full of goodies to treat you all with last year and it would be great to have as many donations this time around.
