Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 162

Aneka GUEST was amongst the 231 finishers and I think her run report is one of the best ones we've ever had - hope you enjoy it too!!

My name is Aneka Guest and I am 10 years old. Today I helped my mum do the Post Close Down which means you pick up all the signs showing people which way to go and how many k's they have run. I don't run very often but my sister Sasha runs and today she ran in 32.46 minutes. My dad Keith GUEST could not catch her up and ran in 33.42. He will have to stop eating the Christmas cakes he keeps making if he wants to beat her!!!

Today we saw a sad incident. Eloise (who I know) and her cousin were running with their parents when a dog off a lead ran over to a dog on a lead. The dog off the lead then caused the cousin to fall over and hurt himself. The cousin is only about seven years old. He was crying. Anyway he managed to carry on running after a bit of support. Eloise PARMENTER managed to carry on running and got a time of 36.26 which I thought was good considering she was upset and had stopped for ages.

My uncle Tony JUDGE loves the parkrun but he has suffered a leg injury and has only just got back into it. He got a time of 31.48.

Lee ASHTON is doing his 50th run next week but quite a few of his friends won't be there because of the holidays. Lee's son Oscar ASHTON was running well too. Oscar ran with his grandmother. Three generations is so nice.

Peter CARTWRIGHT you are getting better all the time even though you eat a lot of cake. Will any of your friends catch you up. I think Lee Ashton is trying.

DSC_1645

Jacqueline SUTTON, my mum loved running with you a few weeks ago because you got her a new PB. You always look nice when you are running.

Mum saw lots of friends from her cycle club - Gill JONES, Debbie HYRONS, Luan WALL and her daughter Eleanor WALL, Sandra HOWARD and her daughter Florence HOWARD. Mum says if anyone is interested they cycle on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 - 11.30 at Stourport Cycle Club. Also well done to Gill JONES and Debbie HYRONS for another P.B.

The people in red dresses looked great but not sure who they were ; maybe Cleobury Mortimer Running Club? (They were in fact the Wyre Forest Hash House Harriers celebrating Fiona STARKIE's 100th parkrun and Debbie JACKSON's 50th parkrun - well done girls! - Andie)

There was a big crowd walking with the Tail Walkers today which was quite good fun.

I hope you enjoyed my Run Report.

Aneka Guest

Well I certainly did - I was with my 9 year old and 7 year old daughters at the back of the parkrun today with Aneka and her Mum and enjoyed it immensely!!

Congratulations also to Terry (Tez) BLUNN who also ran his milestone 50th parkrun this week.

Just a reminder for you all that this Saturday coming (October 27th) is our Halloween themed parkrun so please dig out those costumes again. It's one of the highlights of the parkrun calendar here at Wyre Forest and we've seen some super scary sights over the last few years!

halloween parkrun1

And a kind reminder before I sign off that if you wish to receive an official time for your parkrun that you must bring your barcode. It is unfair to ask (or pressure) volunteers to add your result in afterwards. Once you have finished your parkrun we then have to process the results and adding numbers in manually takes up time (particularly when the parkrun results server is at capacity at 10am!) and can be a slow process. We want to get on with our weekend too. No one at Wyre Forest parkrun is paid, and we love doing what we do but all we ask is that you bring your official parkrun barcode to make things easy for us. Thank you.

06/10/2018 Wyre forest parkrun #160 National parkrun day: A day for heroes

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 160
6th October 2018

This week on 'National parkrun day' 150 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 23 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 20 different clubs took part.

Untitled
Photo: Our awesome volunteers sheltering before the run

The weather was pretty frightful this morning, cold with heavy rain and numbers were unsurprisingly down on usual. But even so a handful of brave souls turned up to complete their first ever parkrun! Well done all:

Dominic WILDE, Reuben SABEL, Lachlan WILTON, Eloise PARMENTER-POYNER, Eartha KRUFT WELTON, Raymond PRICKETT

Special congratulations to Neil JARVIS on your 50th parkrun today.

Yes, today marked 14 years since Paul Sinton-Hewitt and his 12 parkrun pioneers ran the first Bushy Park 5k time trial, what we now know as parkrun. Since then those 13 have grown to over 5 million registered parkrunners worldwide. And for the record, that includes the awesome 3,556 of you that have registered Wyre Forest as your home run.

Untitled

So today it seems fitting to reflect on a couple of our own parkrunners - at different points in their parkrun journeys.

We heard about Raymond PRICKETT from RD Graeme during the briefing and his journey to his debut parkrun. Ray suffered a heart attack a year ago. He had smoked heavily for 50 years, not really looked after himself and his heart attack resulted in lifesaving triple heart bypass surgery. Ray has now got himself much fitter and today ran his first ever parkrun! What an inspiration. Hopefully Ray will become a regular at Wyre Forest.

Untitled
Photo: Ray before his first parkrun

Another parkrun success story is my CMRC club mate Ben PARKES. Ben ran his first parkrun exactly a year ago. On that day it took him 36:06 but he was hooked and came back the following week, and the week after that...you know how it goes! In early 2018 Ben joined us at Cleobury Mortimer Running Club and continued to chip away at his parkrun time (and on one occasion running the course 3 times as a long run with a parkrun PB in the middle!)

This week he asked his club mates to help to get him another PB - which would take him to under 26 minutes and therefore mean he had taken 10 minutes off his original finish time in a year. It was a big ask (he'd need to take another 30 seconds off a PB he set just last week!) but I am proud to report that he did it this morning finishing in a time of 25:48! I hear that his pacing team were pretty tough with him so extra well done to you Ben, a true parkrun success story.

Untitled
Photo: Ben celebrating his new parkrun PB!

And of course we can not forget our super volunteers, the real heroes today. It was tough running in it but these guys were stood still in the downpour. We are incredibly grateful to you all:

Nigel GARDNER • Phil DOLPHIN • Shirley THOMAS • Mark WALLACE • Helen RUTHERFORD • Andrea FORD • Jake GOOD • Alison MACDONALD • Neil CRABBE • Katy BROOME • Graeme ANDERSON • Tom ANDERSON • Lindsay TILLSLEY • John FRANCIS • Vicki KELLY • Robin LAMBE • Luisa TURNER • Rachael SHEPHERD • David ALLISTON • Ruth ALLISTON • Graham GOOD • Maria MIHAJLOVIC • Sasha GUEST • Daren JACKSON • Pauline SMITH • Caz SMITH • Charlie SMITH • Debbie REDDING • Patrick YARRANTON-GREEN

Without volunteers, there is no Wyre Forest parkrun so please don't forget to do your bit. It may seem scary or you may not want to miss your run but all the roles are super easy and some jobs can be done before and after so you get to run too! Get in touch at wyreforesthelpers@parkrun.com, thank you.

Don't forget that we will be celebrating Halloween on October 27th with our spooky spectacular themed run so start thinking about those costumes now!

Thanks for reading, happy running,
Andie

29/09/2018 Wyre Forest parkrun – 100 club member Richard tells us about his parkrun addiction!

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 159
29th September 2018

Richard AMOS of Bridgnorth Running Club ran his 100th parkrun this week! And volunteered to write the Run Report too. It's a good one - but be warned, it may give you ideas!

Can anybody reading this remember Saturday mornings before parkrun? I struggle but I’m pretty sure they involved sleeping in and probably recovering from Friday night. Things certainly changed for me when I was introduced to parkrun.

My first parkrun was at Telford on the 22/08/15 good event, decent course, I really enjoyed it. My first at Wyre Forest was just my 4th parkrun and also happened to be your 4th event. WOW what a route, beautiful scenery an amazing downhill and that hill, oh that hill! I was hooked.

One thing I remember from that first run, there were fewer runners then, there seemed to be sections I was running on my own, the thought crossed my mind on more than few occasions “have I gone the wrong way?” But what a challenging course!

image001

Over the next 2 years I kept coming back, mixing it up with other local parkrun’s, my first taste of parkrun tourism. Joining Bridgnorth Running Club added other elements to my parkrun experience whether it was trying to set new PB’s, improve course best times or push other club members along! It also gave an opportunity to help others on their journey to parkrun through the club’s couch to 5k program.

Then this year my girlfriend took our parkrun addiction to a new level!
She decided “we needed to do more tourism, we need to get our cow-cowl, we need to complete the alphabet, we need to complete The Compass Challenge, The regionnaires for The West Midlands, stop watch bingo” and about a dozen more challenges.

So we planned our year ahead, we started fairly local, then moved further afield, our friends got involved, we always find somewhere for breakfast after. If we went away for a weekend, we tied into a parkrun, somebody’s birthday we did a parkrun, we booked a holiday to Copenhagen so obviously we did a parkrun, we went to Jersey just to parkrun “it’s the only J!”. parkrun-day was now starting at 6am and not 7:30am. We have a serious parkrun addiction!

It’s been an absolutely brilliant adventure! So, after 21 different parkrun’s this year, 44 in total. Only 1 hill compares to Wyre Forest and that’s Ashton Court which is basically 2.5k uphill an amazing 2.5k downhill, honourable mention to Ludlow as theirs is a bit of a bugger. Arrow Valley claim to have a “cardiac hill” if anybody finds it, please let me know!!

When there is a milestone for us to celebrate we always come back to Wyre Forest. In our group this year we’ve celebrated a few milestones we’ve had 100th’s, 50th’s, 25 volunteering with only one place to share these occasions and that’s Wyre Forest, it’s our home course, the best course, with an amazing core team, great cafe, fantastic marshals everything about it is brilliant and that’s why we always come back time and time again!

This week I was lucky enough to complete my 100th run with about 20 members of Bridgnorth Running Club, 2 of them they pretty much dragged me up the hill for my best time this year, bit off my PB but I’ll get there again one day! It was a double celebration as fellow BRC member Sharron RICHARDS completed her 50th run. The course was as testing as ever, the marshals were epic and encouraging as always, the breakfast and coffee were very well earned as were the cakes and glasses of Prosecco we bought with us!

image003

Back to tourism next week but Wyre Forest parkrun you’re my favourite and I’ll be back again
I love it here!

-Richard

Congratulations also to junior Hannah LUPTON who completed her 10th parkrun

15/09/2018 Wyre Forest parkrun – Florence’s run report

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 157
15th September 2018

Thank you to junior parkrunner Florence HOWARD for another fab run report!

Today 180 people ran (some with dogs) and 36 volunteers made it possible for the 180 people to run! Ashley FAWKE came running past us volunteers first!

DSC_1537

Me and my mum marshalled at the last kilometer with the cowbell. I've definitely got a headache now! Some dogs were interested in the bell other not quite. Today there was a nice flow of runners all the way through.

DSC_1609

Mason who's 4 and a half tail walked with his Nan. He rang my cowbell all the way back, just so nobody forgot about us!!!

20180915_095853(0)

It was a lovely morning in the forest especially for the parkrun! The birds all singing when we reached our marshall post. We cheered all you runners on for the very last kilometre!!! If you haven't volunteered lately put your name down now on the roster! Every week we have our lovely Marshalls and all our other volunteers who make the parkrun possible!

Thanks for braving the awful the weather to help us out! More help is needed so please don't wait for others to volunteer first - the time is 'now' to get you name down! Email us at wyreforesthelpers@parkrun.com to support your parkrun thank you.

There were lots of lovely first time parkrunners this week, congratulations one and all:

Julie TUNKS, Sue ROBINSON, Emily PRICE, Tammy WHITE, Neil PRICE, Joanne FOSKETT, Lowri DAVIES, Kristiina WARING, Christopher HANCOX, Kelly BURKETT, Sharon MASON, Lewis WILTON, Gemma CHILDE, Eleanor SHEPHERD, Robert KNIGHT, Ricky TUNLEY, Andrew KNIGHT, Steven TURNER

We had four parkrunners all running their milestone 50th parkruns this week so in no particular order congratulations and well done to Wayne GRIFFIN, Michael GREGG , Peter CARTWRIGHT and Liz HEPWORTH! Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of Peter but he is volunteering this week so I will get him then (sorry Peter!) or Liz (as she didn't tell us). Don't be shy about your milestones - share them with the team. You've worked hard and we like to give you recognition for that.

Junior Sam CROOT also gets on the waiting list for a free t-shirt as he ran his 10th parkrun with us this week - high five Sam!

We also had a volunteer 'forget' to mention a milestone 25th parkrun.....but I will save that for next week!!

Now I'm going to check who reads the run report by asking for a couple of requests. Firstly, we would like to purchase a 'PB Bell'. This is like a school bell that we can mount to a post and would wait at the finish line for you to ring when think you have run a parkrun PB! If anyone sees a bell in a charity/junk shop or knows of one going spare somewhere then please let us know or pick it up for us thank you.

The other thing is regarding results processing. This is done in the café after the run and we'd like to hear from you if you'd be interested in training to do it. Even I can do it so you really don't need to be that tech savvy, but it does require more training than other roles and obviously you need to stay after the run to do it. If you're interested please get in touch. Thank you.

#wyreforestparkrun080918

I think that's all! See you next week

Happy 3rd birthday to Wyre Forest parkrun!

This week was an extra special week for us as we celebrated our 3rd birthday. We celebrated with a superhero theme and it was great to see so many of our volunteers and runners dressed up in superhero costumes! We had everyone from Batman and Robin, to Superman and Superwoman; we had Wonder woman, Banana man and Spiderman; we even had a ninja turtle and a dinosaur!  We love it when you embrace our themes, and it made us very happy to see the forest full of superheroes, so thank you!

Thank you to those of you that donated cakes also - they were very much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone! It always helps our runners to get up Cardiac Hill, knowing there is cake at the finish line!

This week 214 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 36 were first timers! We hoped you enjoyed your first run in our beautiful forest and we look forward to seeing you again soon. 40 people also recorded new Personal Bests - Congratulations! Was it down to the added super powers the costume wearers brought with them, or the promise of cake at the end? Maybe a little bit of both!

As always, the event was made only made possible by our high viz heroes. This week we need to say thank you to:

Maria PALI • Vicky HONEYBOURNE • Kim HOOD • Mark WALLACE • Philip SHELDON • Joanne WATSON • Jake GOOD • Fiona CLARKE • Vicki HULME • Mark REAVES • Neil CRABBE • Andrew GARLICK • Katy BROOME • Lisa GARLICK • Graeme ANDERSON • Tom ANDERSON • Heather MORGAN • Luisa TURNER • Gavin MILLICHIP • Carole HENDER • Daren JACKSON • Pauline SMITH • Simone BUZINK • Trish LONGMORE • Lloyd WRIGHT • Christopher HANCOX

Volunteer of the year

One of the best things about our birthday is that it is that we get to award our 'Volunteer of the year' award! In the past we have had very worthy winners; Bill Biggs in 2016, and Lisa and Andy Garlick in 2017, all of whom still regularly volunteer most weeks. This year we were very proud to award our 'Volunteer of the year' award to the very lovely Pauline Smith!

Wfpr 25.8.18

Pauline Smith; Our 2018 Volunteer of the year!

Pauline started volunteering with us in February 2017. Since then she has volunteered a staggering 51 times! She has volunteered 36 times in the past 12 months alone - this is more than any other person! She has completed 13 parkruns herself, many of these in the volunteer role of 'tailwalker'. When we were struggling for volunteers last week, she quickly came to our rescue too! She signed her partner up to parkrun and we sent him out marshalling! Clearly Pauline is a very inspiring lady, and she is doing good work spreading the volunteering love. She is a member of both Cleobury Mortimer Running Club and Tri-Energy, and her own running is going from strength to strength. She has no idea how special she is to us all, and when I was announcing the award on Saturday, she didn't realise it was for her until the very last minute! Pauline is a wonderful lady and we are so proud of her. Please give her a big huge 'thank you' when you see her. She will be volunteering, as usual, again next week.

Wfpr 25.8.18

Wfpr 25.8.18

We also need to say a big congratulations to Darryl Carter who achieved a new age category record for the VM45-49 category with us on Saturday. Darryl ran an incredible time of 17:49! Congratulations Darryl, that is a brilliant achievement.

Congratulations also to Edward Southan and Stephen Brown who both ran their 50th parkruns! If you are celebrating a milestone parkrun, please let us know so we can give you a shoutout in our briefing.

As I mentioned earlier, we saw some fabulous costumes for our birthday parkrun! I am going to leave you with a few of my favourites!

And there were lots of lovely parkrun debutants this week:

Selena REAVES, Claire BUTTON, Chris JUCKES, Anthony NEWBOULD, Phil BUTTON, Harvey BUTTON, Samantha CLARKE, Hayley PEPLER, Liz BARKER, David GILLAM, Charis TURNER, James BAKER, Kate NICKELS, Matthew BAKER, Laura BEDSON, Stuart DEAKIN

Well done to you all!

It was a very quiet week on the milestone front with no official milestones achieved this week. It was nice however to greet tourists from far and wide including Cornwall, Barcelona and Sydney! We also welcomed the ED of Luton Wardown parkrun Kate NEALE - lovely to meet you Kate!

I had a rare opportunity to run this week - and that is because of the wonderful volunteers who replied to my email for assistance in filling the roster this week. Please remember if you have not yet volunteered that parkrun only exists because other parkrunners give up their run in exchange for a role.

If we all take our turns regularly then the roster would be full several weeks in advance and my job would be lots easier. So don't wait until Friday night to look at the roster - do your bit and keep our wonderful event going. Thank you. Like me - you can get a volunteer credit for writing this run report (which as you can see, doesn't have to be long!)

Don't forget that next week we celebrate our third birthday! Where has the time gone...it seems like only yesterday that we were nervously preparing for our inaugural.

As I am writing this and thinking back over the last three years I can honestly say that parkrun has changed my life. I hope that doesn't sound silly, because its true. Without it I would not have met and been inspired by so many amazing people. Wyre Forest parkrun is an important part of our family life now, something that we all do together and look forward to and something that above all else, I am incredibly proud of. I'm not sure what we'd do on a Saturday if parkrun wasn't around!

So thank you to everyone who has ran, jogged, walked, supported and (most importantly to me!) volunteered over these last 3 years as you've all made it incredibly special. As I can't be with you next week I'll take the opportunity now to say "Happy Birthday" and hope you all have a fabulous parkrun (and lots of cake!)

Speaking of which....our core team are not renowned for their baking skills I'm afraid! We will buy a couple of cakes but we know that we have lots of talented bakers amongst our parkrun community so if anyone would like to bring along anything to contribute to the party then please do!

The theme is Super Heroes so don't forget those capes, masks and pants on the outside!

See you all in a couple of weeks and once again - THANK YOU!

04/08/2018 Wyre Forest parkrun #151 Gav’s Run Report

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 151
4th August 2018

This week's run report is written by the man who is usually behind the camera - Gavin MILLICHIP.

Gav is an important member of our parkrun family as not only does he take most of our photographs, he has completed 50 stints as a volunteer today and ALSO completed his milestone 50th parkrun.

#Wyreforestparkrun
Photo: The man who's usually behind the camera, Gav MILLICHIP

Thank you so much for everything Gav, take it away:

It was another great park run Saturday, a little on the warm side but a much better weather extreme than the weather we had earlier in the year that caused multiple park run cancellations.

This week 221 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 49 were first timers and 34 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 24 different clubs took part.

Well done to Neil CRABBE who took charge of his first parkrun as Run Director, he oversaw the event & ran it to it`s usual high standard.

It was my 50th parkrun & also my 50th volunteer appearance, (doing the run report counts as one) so not all are as high profile or daunting as Neil`s Run Director role!!

#Wyreforestparkrun

There are several roles you can do as a volunteer and still get to run on the day, (course set up & token sorting for example). It`s really important to keep the volunteer roster looking healthy especially at this time of year when people are on holiday etc. Please have a look at the roster & see if you can help out, you still get the social aspect of the parkrun without the pain of cardiac hill, it`s a win win!

That said Cardiac Hill has lost a bit of it`s fear factor for me having gone up CMRC`S RON HILL during their recent 10k race, it`s painful!!! If you're into extreme pain and horrendous hills ask the Cleobury crew to take you on a run up it (not recommended)!

Well done to Mathew BAILEY & Richard FAIN who had great 'race' to the finish line, finishing in 1st and 2nd places and both recording new PB`S. To get a PB is impressive enough but to do so in the baking conditions of Saturday is amazing, well done to you both & all other runners who completed your parkrun. Having completed my 50th park run,(all at the Wyre) I`m going to try a few other local parkruns now, though I doubt very much though that neither the excellent course or the fantastic atmosphere at Wyre forest could ever be bettered.

Thank you to all involved with the Wyre Forest parkrun, all your hard work is very much appreciated!!!

Aw...thanks Gav! And thank you to you too as without our volunteers there would be no parkrun at all. Speaking of which....

This event was made possible by 28 marvellous volunteers:

Ian DENNIS • Nigel GARDNER • Lucy BROOKS • Frances GEDDIE • Andrea FORD • Neil CRABBE • Adrian FORD • David STARKIE • Duncan STARKIE • Carole EVANS • Lisa BIGGS • Martin BIGGS • Allyson MCCLUNG • Andy MORGAN • Gavin MILLICHIP • Rachael SHEPHERD • Molly MATHEWS • Ryan MORGAN • Daren JACKSON • Debbie HYRONS • Jeremy FERGUSON • Linda MALLINSON • Ben HOBSON • James PAYTON • Sarah BOWLES • Steve REDDING • Eleanor BOWLES • Hannah BOWLES

We hope you enjoyed your first parkrun and we will see you all again very soon.

Joining Gav for his milestone run this week were two lovely ladies... Sandra HOWARD was also running her 50th parkrun so now earns the famous red (free!) '50' tee-shirt and Natalie CARR (and friends from Bridgnorth Running Club) played tribute to our beautiful forest by dressing up like a tree for her 100th parkrun. Absolutely perfect. Well done all of you.

Junior Falan MALONE-PRIEST also ran a milestone - her tenth parkrun. Awesome work Fallan!

Wyre Forest #146 – melting those records!

Thank you to the awesome Pippa WHITE (visiting us from Queen Elizabeth parkrun) for this week's run report!

This report has to start with the fantastic achievement of William RICHARDSON setting a blistering new course record of 15:47 on what must be the hottest parkrun at Wyre Forest yet. The ground conditions were spectacular and his PB sits with the other 36 PBs. Well done to everyone on such a hot day.

Untitled
One to watch: Will Richardson

Well done also to the 30 first time parkrunners including those from TriEnergy graduating from couch to 5k and picking a difficult (ie not flat) first parkrun to complete in the temperatures that should have had us all basking lazily in the sun instead. 11 completed their second parkrun with 7 new PBs and in all 77 of the 217, or approximately 1/3rd were on 10 or fewer parkruns – how lovely to be part of this way to spend a Saturday morning and I wonder if these are more superlative records.

It was my first time at Wyre Forest but this is on my list to come and do again, if only to conquer the hills properly. Drawn to the area by a cool weather decision in cold early April to run the inaugural Cleobury Mortimer 10k on the Sunday, I persuaded my lovely host to show off her beautiful ‘local’ as a leg stretch before the event. For those reading and considering attending, it’s a super one lapper (my fav) with enough shade to be welcome on a hot day, cheerful volunteers and a most splendid café for breakfast and milkshake.

Any parkrun with milestone runs is also fantastic. Well done to juniors Bryn JENKINS and Jack LINNEY on their 10th parkruns. Sandra PEDERSEN completed her 100th and Steve KIMBER his 50th. https://flic.kr/p/K3NA9k May all your links go live soon.

12/05/2019 Wyre Forest parkrun #139 Be prepared for Mark’s scouting run report

Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 139
12th May 2018

This week 189 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 38 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 21 different clubs took part

We had one of our favourite volunteer takeovers to date as the youngsters (and some adults!) from the First Stourport St Michaels Scout troop took the reins this week. Scout leader Mark Atkinson oversaw proceedings for the morning (which ran incredibly smoothly) and he has written this week's run report.

DSC_0900

DSC_0907

We had fantastic weather for the run this week, which was a special Scouting parkrun takeover day. 32 Members and Supporters of 1st Stourport (St Michaels) Scout Troop took over the running of the parkrun, some of them attending a parkrun for the very first time along with a few seasoned parkrunners.

DSC_0903

It was lovely to see some of the runners sporting their scouting or guiding neckers for the run and we hope you all had a great time.

DSC_0926

The run started well with everyone setting off to a chorus of cheers, encouragement and cow bells from the scouts lining the first corner and then continued to be cheered on around the rest of the course by the scouts and their parents on all the marshal points.

At the finish line the runners were greeted by a well-earned cake from the scouts cake stall. The troop were raising funds to support scouts attending international Scout Jamboree’s in America and the Netherlands in 2019. We would like to say a very big thank you to all the runners for your support. We raised a fantastic £193.63

c0686e5a-95b2-4494-8fc3-d6bbf5af02c9

A big well done to Paul LITTLE who came in first today with a time of 17:20 and a new PB and he also captured a new Age Category Record for VM40-44.

DSC_0958

And a big well done to all the other PB’s, Milestones and First Timers. Martyn WRIGHT celebrated his 50th parkrun - well done Martyn!

Martyns50thparkrun12052018

We also hope the tourists from Leeds and everywhere else enjoyed their time at the Wyre forest.

One final thing, we very much hope to see lots of you at the Civic on Saturday 2nd June for a fun evening of Barn Dancing. You can parkrun in the morning followed by a fantastic evening of entertainment. We have a professional Barn dance Band, The Organ Grinders, booked to play as well as table magic by a fantastic young magician Illewsionist. The civic bar will be open, food is available and there will be cash prize games throughout the evening and the draw of our 2 fantastic raffles with over £1000 worth of prizes to give away. Tickets £10 or £35 for a family of 4. Available from www.saintmichaelsscouts.org.uk/barndance

Finally, thank you to all the awesome volunteers:

Nigel GARDNER • David MORE • Helen RUTHERFORD • Josh MOORE • Zak MOORE • Andrea FORD • Mark ATKINSON • Alfie BAKER • Jake GOOD • Annette MORE • Ethan TUNLEY-DAVIES • Adrian FORD • Gavin MILLICHIP • Claire JONES • Scarlett HOLLOWAY • Austin HOLLOWAY • Caz SMITH • William BENNETT • Will BENNETT • Richard SPENCER • Sally SPENCER • Samuel SPENCER • Libby SPENCER • Craig WOOD • Jasmine WOOD • Daisy WOOD • Annabel CLAYTON • Gareth MORRIS • Brandon JONES • Timothy CLAYTON

And congratulations to all the first time parkrunners:

Oliver RAWLINS, Mark BAYLISS, Adam MIDDUP-JONES, Jason CORTIS, Clare GRIFFIN, Christian HOLLOWAY, Sophie NOBLE, Paul WILLIAMS, Connie WILLIAMS, Debbie REDDING, Sarah WILLIAMS

The next event for your diaries is June 9th when we celebrate 70 years of the NHS #NHS70. We are hoping to have a special volunteer takeover that day so if your involved with the NHS and can help us out please get in touch. And as it's a birthday party - we'd like donations of cakes please!

See you all next Saturday!
