Wyre Forest parkrun
Event number 131
17th March 2018
The threat from the return of the Beast From the East was over us again this weekend and saw bitter cold temperatures in the forest.
Participation was a little down on usual and this week 152 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 10 were first timers and 21 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 16 different clubs took part.
Here are the brave first timers who weren't put off by the weather - hope you're all super proud of yourselves!:
Phillip WHITTALL, Anthony PARKER, Sam CROOT, Rebecca DOCKER, Lisa SHAKESPEARE
The event was made possible by 35 volunteers who I think we shall be extra grateful to this week. It's hard enough for some of us to motivate ourselves to run when its so cold but these generous and hardy people were stood still in it. You are all heroes!:

We are particularly proud of our newest and youngest member of the volunteer 25 club - Ryan MORGAN.
Lots of you will recognise 6 year old Ryan as he likes to marshal with mum or dad Emma and Andy at the bottom of the final hill. He is often waving his pom poms or ringing the cow bells and is a welcome sight for many of us as we approach 'Cardiac Hill'. Ryan likes it when we have a parkrun 'theme' and chose 'books' for his theme and the whole family joined in.
Ryan is now hoping to obtain his junior 10 t-shirt and we all wish him well and thank him for being such an important part of our parkrun family.
If you'd like to join our volunteer team then please email in to firstname.lastname@example.org and get your name down on our roster.
See you next time!
