Christmas and New Year parkruns

Hi parkrunners,

As many of you know parkrun offers local event teams the opportunity to host additional events on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The team here at Yeovil Montacute have decided that we will NOT be hosting special events on these days.

We will let you know which local events are operating these special events in due course so you can get your seasonal special fix, but you can always check this link which lists all events and their seasonal preferences.

We will still be running events on the standard Saturday mornings at 9am as usual on Saturday 20th December 2014 (Which will be a special Christmas themed run - details to follow nearer the time), Saturday 27th December 2014, and Saturday 3rd January 2015 as normal.

As these are a busy time of year, we are looking to ensure we have enough volunteers to even host these events - so if you can help out for any of these events (Or, if you normally turn up with a family member who can turn their "support" into "marshalling" where they can still support you, please let us know by emailing

Many thanks,
The Yeovil Montacute parkrun Core Team

Racing opportunites..

Whilst the parkrun is a "Run not a Race", it is the ideal preparation for racing in other events - just ask our Sweatshop parkrunner of the month, Rob Gundry, who puts our runs down to his breaking the 20 minute barrier at the Yeovilton 5km last month!

It is the last race of the YTRRC Yeovilton 5km Series this Wednesday - 10th September. Race starts at 7.15pm - see for details.

The flat fast course around round Yeovilton is a cracker for good times - go and have a go and see how much you've improved after running up our Hill in the past few weeks!!

7th December sees more of a challenge - the (10 mile, almost as many hills!) Full Monty-Cute organised by Crewkerne Running Club ( If any of you want to have a go at some of the hills, have a word with us on Saturday - there's scope for a bit of post parkrun training (strictly nothing to do with parkrun mind!) up Ladies Walk!
