IMG_2539

58 children joined us this week, on a warm sunny Sunday morning, to make their way round Yeovil Rec for event number #95.

Following on from the run brief, this weeks energetic warm up was lead by Ethan and Sienna  visiting us from Woking Junior Parkrun. Thank you for joining us and we hope you visit us again in the future!

After a countdown of 3, 2, 1, there was a mad dash off the start line before the runners settled into their rhythm to complete two laps of the park.

Yeovil Rec Junior Parkrun 94 31st July 2022

On a cloudy morning with the temperature reaching 20 degrees Celsius the course was set out without any problems. The course appeared dry and fast.

This week had been a struggle getting all the volunteers required to run the event, but they all turned up ready to encourage and ensure the safety of our children. A big thank you goes out to all our wonderful volunteers.

Run # 92

On a sunny sunny sunny Sunday morning 36 4-14 year olds graced the rec at Mudford for Yeovil Rec junior parkrun event number 92.

Following a brief briefing, Adam and Cadie handled the warm up, getting everybody run-ready without warming them up *too much*.

a6539bd0-1658-418b-a706-6a5457b95cc5

Off to the start line, where Sandra, our videographer for the day, managed to capture all our runners while minimising the obstacle element of her position. See our facebook page for the video.

With lots of youngsters helping out today, the new junior hi-viz vests and bells were in demand.

And all the volunteers, both young and slightly-less-young, did a fantastic job of facilitating a smooth event and cheering our athletes round the course. Email in if you want to be a hero yourself!

A big welcome to Jack and Albie, completing their first ever parkruns today. And a big hello to Theo, Alfred, and Poppy who were partaking in a spot of tourism this week. Despite the baking hot conditions, three of our regular parkrunners finished with new PBs. Well done to William, Evie, and Jack.

Cheers are also due to Harry, who was awarded his half marathon pace band, and to Zani, who was awarded her marathon pace band. We look forward to seeing them proudly on display next time.

Happy Birthday!

Yeovil Rec juniors #91 saw our third birthday, and what a beautiful day for it! Many opted to join the celebration by wearing fancy dress which made a very colourful, fun event, although the temperature was rising making the extra clothing an aditional challenge to complete the course.
